Nice personal attack. If only you showed as much enthusiasm for fixing our profession as you do insulting people for disagreeing with your clearly superior opinions.

I should have said this in my last post, sorry. To mine 83K resources a day would take more than 10 lots too. So this guy has to buy resources to mine that many a day or he has another account/friends that give him lots. The weaponsmith doesn't have to worry about this at all.

2 accounts & melee friends. I run 20 heavies of various types, & Fusions. My actual cost/resource is under .4, as low as .25 depending on the concentration I get. At 65% accross the board, I'm bringing in 130k resources daily. So I guess on average I sell more than 3 heavies a day. If you consider the 90%+ spots I find for some resources like metals & Chem, It's closer to 150k daily.

Given the specific nature of WS resource needs, it would be VERY VERY difficult for a weaponsmith to run more than 10 harvesters of his own. For me, it's very simple. Find the closest High % ore, find the high % metal, & drop 20 harvesters. Visit them twice a week, voila. For WS, you have to find quality, find a good %, and do that for SEVERAL different types. I never have to leave Talus to get my Metal & Ore. A WS would have to scour several planets to meet their needs.

You're doing the whole grass is greener thing, and looking like a real noob. Sure, Master WS is a bit more lucrative than master Arch. It's also more work getting there, and there's elements of it that certainly aren't as easy. You're like the Carpenter complaining that Plumbers make more money than he does. Get over it & have fun.

Azidar what server are you on sir?! Such carefree lewdness will NOT be permitted amongst this profession sir! You tell me your server and the planetary location of your house this instant! We are coming for you sir... you WILL wear shoes too tight for you, small bifocaled glasses that harm your vision, a wool suit (black) at ALL times, you WILL carry a calculator... oh no sir {evil chuckle} not the 2cr battery powered neon one either... but a dual powered scientific WITH gradius and graphing potential sir! This simply cannot be tolerated.. this.. this... enjoyment of yours! {slaps his patent leather gloves across is palm and storms off to the starport}

Dunno Zeck, I pretty much agree with you completely. With the numbers I ran, I think it was with a WS selling 35 guns a day, that I was making more selling my 3 heavy harvs. Now that entirely depends on the WS, & their prices.

They might be selling 50 a day, at 30k each, in which case, they're making far more money.

The point is though, because we go through so MANY resources, our cost/resource doesn't have to be as high, and we can still make a considerable profit. (And you said that too. I think we're on the same page regarding arch)

Yes, we are the only profession that forces the practitioners to run their own harvesters, and use other's lots to make a good living. BUT, I don't have to run 30 lots. I choose to do so, simply because it triples the amount of money I can bring in, and I'm the greedy powergaming sort. The thing I'm more concerned about on a profession level is that someday the demand for our product will be COMPLETELY gone.

Back to my friend Atoner:
Am I wrong that our items don't decay? Am I wrong when I say that experimentation for Architects doesn't affect anything? Am I wrong when I say that we're slowly selling ourselves a market where no one ever needs to buy our products? Am I wrong when I say we're the only profession with these issues? How about when I say that not only are we the only one with these problems but also that no one seems to be looking into fixing them.

If I'm the dim-witted one here, how come you can't seem to answer any of these questions? I submit that you don't have answers to this any more than anyone else does, but that you've convinced yourself that the way you do things is clearly the best way it could be for anyone.
Just because I haven't addressed, or answered these issues in THIS thread, doesn't mean I haven't addressed them.

Yes, you have legitimate beefs with Architecture, and that's fine. What you're doing that's dumb is comparing our selling price/resource to that of a weaponsmith's, ignoring EVERY single other factor that does into that, and complaining because they're out of whack.

Not every profession was created equal, and it's not as black & white as you make it. You even compared 20 days of WS selling to 1 day of mine. By the numbers you gave above, I'm the one making more money than the WS in the example, DESPITE their charge / res in the 100's vs mine at 6.5.

Selling prices are determined by the number of Archs, the demand for their product, and the same thing for Weaponsmith. By all means, address the issues in our class, but selling point is NOT one of them. Selling point is an issue with the economies, and the high number of archs on most servers. Address that one by quitting Arch & taking us WS.

There are people on my server that sell heavy harvs for under 100k. I still have no problem getting rid of mine at 180k. Simply realize that the demand is there, and that a heavy harvester IS worth 180k+, because of what it returns to the customer. If you stick to your guns on prices, and meet your customer's needs, other architects will realize that they too can, and should be charging the same price for their goods.

shesh thats a really good point x.x

1. Architects can sell what they make all the way from Novice to Master. Only Master weapsmiths can sell weapons for anywhere near the numbers you are citing.

2. Weaponsmiths have to grind worthless Projectile Rifle Barrels in order to level up. So, in order to get a fair comparison, you **edit** well better count the 450,000 units of steel that a Weaponsmith has to burn through (at zero revenue) to get to the point where he can sell weapons. By the time a weaponsmith reaches master, he is probably a 2 million credits in the hole (considering harvester costs and the 450,000 plus steel needed.)

3. Rare resources. Weaponsmiths are slaves to a long laundry list of rare resources needed to make anything. Gathering these resources is extremely costly. There are shuttle expenses. And, frequently, one has to place a harvester on a really crappy percentage (like 40pct). This increases the cost.

Additionally, these rare resources flat out disappear from the planet. A weaponsmith only has so much link-steel aluminum before he cannot make any more laser weapons at all. Linksteel may not come back for a long time. You are **edit** well right that Laser Rifle is going to increase in price. That's called scarcity.

1) Umm yeah the can pretty much start selling stuff as soon as they start if they don't mind selling it for about half of what they can get just by selling the raw materials. I recomend they make walls for the first half dozen boxes till they can make items the can sell with a cost equal to what they can sell the raw materials for.

2) umm why can't they sell lower end weapons? People just starting out can't use better weapons until they lvl up. D18 pistol is better than what they start with, DLT20 rifle too. Sure they aren't as good a a master smiths but have you tried selling them for 150-200cr? you'd probably find several buyers at that price. Just stand on the corner shouting your wares and let people tell you what a bandit you are and how you are robbing them for hours I"m sure you will sell several.

3) umm yeah pretty much agree the shuttle thing can be rough say like when there is no reactive gas at all on your planet. Master Architects only required maybe a dozen specific resources to make everything and for the rest are very general, and sure to make every weapon out there there is a large number of resources 20-30 but it really only has to show up once every few months after the first appearance. Haha and I do feel your pain having to harvest something at only 40-50% density although I will say that although it varies by server I'd recomend you look a bit farther for it. At least on eclipse the only thing Ive seen that regularly falls in the 40-50% range is the LQ ores isn't it fortuneate you don't need to mine 3k of that to sell 3-12k of stuff on a regular basis.

So say link steel aluminum shows up for a week and you manage to squirl away 50k of it knowing that it is rare. Well thats only enough for about 769 rifles. Assume you sell 10 laser rifles a day at only 15k, well you'll make 150k a day and if for some reason it doesn't make an appearance for 3 months (time on that will vary depending on how many you sell a day) you'll have to find a way to live on 11,535,000 credits till it makes a reappearance. Yes the sheervolume and variety of resources a weaponsmith needs in the first month is a crushing blow i'm sure. And the pain and suffering he has to look forward to for months to come leave me completely worn out.
