Thread: LowBalling Archs I just have to know?

I have a set price for all of the items I make. When it comes to things like Heavy Extractors and below, I keep those prices. Of course, I'll give discounts for good return business. But, for those who are just starting buying from me, if they say that they can get the structure for less from someone else, then that's great. If they ask if they can have it for 5K or 10K less, I tell them i can't do it, and sorry I couldn't help them. For things like PA Halls which are WAY UP THERE in price, I can usually sway a little on price. I'm already getting so much money for those things anyway, that I don't mind coming down just a little bit on the prices of them. I don't come down much, but I can come down some.

I'm very interested on what people think "low balling" is price-wise. How low would an arch have to go to be considered a low baller?

Oh and there are some people out there that are in it for the grind and sell things cheaper. There are some people in the game that are in it for the money. Me, I'm in it cause I love to craft structures. Price really means nothing to me. I enjoy having money on me so that I can just relax some days and take a full day off crafting to go fishing in the river near my PA Hall or something. I LOVE to craft. But, it does get stressful, and it's nice to have a day off here and there. Or at least a couple of hours each week (I'm a power gamer that puts in probably 5 hours a day during the week and 10 to 12 hours a day each weekend day). But, other than that, money doesn't really matter to me.

It's not like I'm trying to horde it...i mean think about it...what is money useful for in this game anyway? Weapons? Ok, so I'm alsoa Master WS and can make my own weapons. But, as of yet, I can't make one that can beat the one I have. I have the best gun for my certification. And since I ONLY fight to get items to make weapons or to protect myself around harvs, my guns don't decay quickly AT ALL. This gun I've had fora couple of weeks now, and it's lost maybe 100 points out of the 900 or so on it...I think it's close to like 60, but still. It won't break or wear out for MONTHS. What else is money good for? Structures, harvs, housing, yeah...we can make every bit of that. I wanted a large house for myself, so I just built one. Say I want a heavy harv to throw down on a REALLY good deposit of a specific WS resource. So, I build one and throw it down. What else? Armor. I have FAR FAR FAR too much in my inventory at all times to ever be able to hold armor too. Keeping enough resources on me at all times to build a large house as well as keeping like 30 different resources on me all the time for WSing. Yeah, add all that, plus my crafting tools, clothing, etc. I have no room for armor. Droids? Ok, good point. Buy yourselfa couple of good crafting droids and a good probot. That's what...60K max for all three? And those last forever. Clothes? Same thing. Right now, they last forever...and there are only so many combinations u can try. Food? Well, not sure why crafters need food. Food helps in combat...we don't fight.

So what good is money to us? Is that the way you measure your success in the game? If that is the case, why? Why not base it on building a VERY successful business that has a LOT of return customers as well as very nice show house for your furniture. I'm not in this for the money. So, if someone considers me low balling, then so be it. I thoroughly LOVE and ENJOY the raw act of crafting. I'm not trying to make money. I'm trying to have fun.

The ONLY thing I use my money for right now is to buy a droid here and there, buy resources to craft, and keep up the 36K credits per day maint on my houses, factories, and extractors.

Some of us that might be considered low ballers aren't trying to undercut people. We are selling our wares for what we think is fair because we LOVE to craft...and that's it.

I am not in it for the grind, I sell cheaper because I am in it for my customers.

Hate to break the news to you, but my pricing structure will carry straight into vehicles and starships ( if we get to build those )

I sell low - mid 80s for heavies, a bit more for fusion and lower for gas - and I am quite wealthy.

What I don't understand is why so many people look at the prices others charge and complain, rather than trying to figure out what they are doing wrong.

Remember - NEVER look at the bazaar and say "that's what things sell for".

Look at the bazaar and realiz: that's what things do not sell for. The stuff on the bazaar hasn't sold or it wouldn't stillbe there. Three credits a pop for junk isn't what resources go for. I buy at 2, mine some, and sell for ~3.25.

Sell alot, get rich, answer complaints from people who charge too much.

You know for people making massive amounts of money for stuff your are pretty greedy. I went through the "grind" to be able to make houses for Rori. Unfortunatly it was making stuff that no one could use on my planet. I had little or no money, and so i flew to Naboo and tried to unload houses on the market...the price kept going down untill i had to go home adn check on my harvisters.

Perhaps all of you forgot what it was like to have no money at all...So i dumped all my houses on the market for 3k....If one of you bought it great i hope you make money at it. I was happy to make 15k and be able to make houses that would go on my own planet....I dont do that here...There are not many people so you can charge less for a small house than on the bigger worlds.

Its funny how poeple who will "practice" on dozens of harvesters to make novice archie, or dump them on the market for 300-500 will complain about people trying to get in the points to work up the level. I would loved to make walls and sell them for real money to someone...but alais that was not the case. So i did what i could.

Just another complaint against customers. I am just now learning the basics of how people price.I wason corellia andI had a guy walk up to me and ask for a Factory, 4 harvesters, 2 windmills, 2 small houses. I had done the math, had a guy across town with the harvesters (which i cannot make yet). I told him it would be 2-3 days... I could not get on one day..another day or two to make the stuff. I dont make a lot yet...to expensive for little me. He gets mad at me....I quoted him low prices (100k) considering that he was buying a lot, and i was/am in need of the money. He gets mad at me for high prices, slow delivery and for asking him to pick up there, the last i would have given in on (i was a shuttle hop and two world jumps away, with my 56K modem that is 1/2 hour in travel home 1/2 hour back). He has sent me two nasty emails since....and then asked if i would live by the original prices/agreement. I told him i would have them at my vendor...but they would run 120k i havn't heard back.

If anyone archie or otherwise would like me to supply you with small homes/subcomponents/factories let me know.

I actually agree,

I make it a rule ( for me ) to never complain about anothers prices be they high or low... if they are low enough, I will even buy them myself, and have done so. If they are too high, I make sure they know I think thier complaits aobut no customers are pretty funn. ( at least on these boards I do ).

But people can sell at whatever price they like, that is the great thing about an open market.

Here's how I compete on the market: I make deals. I have a supplier that I give a couple heavies a week to, and he pays me back in resources. The value placed on those resources is far cheaper than anyone would sell them for, but still a nice tidy profit for him, so he gets cheap heavy harvesters and I get loads of cheap ore. He loves the deal because he's getting increased production capacity and thus more and bigger orders. I love the deal because I am essentially trading a 90k harvester for enough ore to make three more. And even when he doesn't owe me money he still sells me everything for 2.5cpu, and he has excellent delivery times.

Oh and I should mention that until I sold him some medium harvesters a few weeks ago I had never met this guy before in my life. He's not a real life friend nor is he in my PA; he's just another businessman that understands the mutual value of a good deal. Yes you have to work to find a good deal like this but there ARE people out there willing to team up, especially if you explain all the math to him like I did.
