Thread: cost of a house vs the cost of a crate of brandy for example
I've been a Master Architect since beta and I've never sold for cheap except to guildmates or city residents.
I used to simply refer people who had a problem with my pricing toseveral other architects who I knew sold cheap, but I'm told they are no longer architects. None of them.
Bummer, huh.
If you're seriously into making tons of virtual money and your version of fun is running a popular, highly profitable business, then you should look at Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Cook, or other profession that is much more suitable to creating that kind of game environment.
If my profit on one structure sale at my price equals the profit you gain on 4 sales at a much lower price each, then you can still outsell me on a ratio of 3:1 and I'll still be ahead. And, I'll have a helluva lot more time to actually explore and play the other aspects of the gamethan you will.
The thread author points out a very real situation that all Architects should keep in mind. If a full suit of armor, that is expected to be replaced often, costs more than ANY of the structures that we make, or that some weapons that people will quickly discard when they train their next box costs more than a small house, then maybe, just maybe, you should raise your price regardless of what other people charge and free up some play time. Show a little pride in your profession. Let the other guys prostitute themselves - they won't last, it gets old quick.
Sometimes I actually have to sit and collect resources and craft another batch of structures. I haven't done that for about a month and a half though. Yet I've never really run out of cash. No, I don't have the 30 million a week income like some of the power crafters out there, but then, what the hell would I spend it on anyway?
