The effect on the game you are missing is the economic effect. Coloring furniture would give architects another source of income, possibly a sustainable income stream. It would hopefully help keep our profession alive a little while longer.
I for one personally don't care what color my couch is. However our profession needs a shot in the arm once in a while and I do care a lot about that.
Yes its just cosmetic. But a lot of players would enjoy the variety.

Don't get me wrong I would enjoy it also. I just doubt it will ever rank high among the things that get attention simply because there are systems that are not working and need more than a cosmetic update.
Just because I do not live on these forums does not make me a troll. I am a paying member of this community and have ever right tobe here as the next. If it makes you feel better I have a master architect. I have no slump in sales. In fact I had to turn several of my patrons to some of our arch's in training for furniture sales to take some of the heat off of me.
When you say a shot in the arm it seems to me that you want some variety. I don't see our profession dying off. I do see the professionals dying off though along with alot of other crafting professionals. It seems harder and harder to find crafters that stock items. Alot of professions suffer the same woes. Once you master what else is there to do. Well for alot of folks the path is more fun than the end. If you don't like selling stuff you can make then there is little reason to become a crafter. Most of the mmorpgs I have ever played where there was crafting those were secondary characters everyone had to support their main characters. SWG is somewhat unique in that fashion in that they expect crafters to become your main characters with the thought of a single character system. However you will see almost every update is geared toward combat. Ultimately most players migrate toward that game play. With that in mind I doubt we will see many updates geared toward anything else for awhile

Dvnce - Could you please ask the DEV's if this is going to happen or not? I'd like to know if they still remember that Architect exists. And if it is going to happen, then can we get a rough idea of when?

I don't think they do remember we exist, JTL / combat rebalance is all that counts now, IMO this game has lost it's way, I am giving serious thought to where I go from here...

I'm still pretty stuck on SWG, but if I find another MMORPG I like with a crafting system as elaborate and a player driven economy like in SWG then I'd definitely be looking elsewhere. I actually checked out EVE online because it seems to fit the bill for crafting and economics but it didn't grab my attention and I really didn't like thegraphic interface.

The crafting system for EQ2 sounds promising.
Just think what I could build if I could color my furniture...

Is it a player driven economy too? Thats the main thing that keeps SWG interesting for me.

That would be something to see indeed.
