I believe this will be a lot of fun for the PA's...and associated architects....for about 30-60 days. SWG players are notorious about absorbing content and then asking ..."so what else ya got for me?"

I guess that depends on where you live, PSchirf, because to this day my 90ish year old Aunt pays no property taxes on her home. It was there long before the town she lives in incorporated, owned by the family from when they built it eons ago (so it seems), and so it was "grandfathered" when the town incorporated. She doesn't pay taxes on it because it was hers when the town becamea town.

And for the record, no, she doesn't quite live in the middle of no where. She lives in Upstate NY.

Sounds like a special exception made only because there were enough existing landowners that didn't want incorporation to scuttle the deal. In most cases today, an annexation by a town of surrounding areas makes those areas subject to any taxes the town has.

I am not a huge fan of forcing existing houses to pay taxes to a newly incorporated city, but I think it is necessary for the long term viability of player cities. I do wish they had instituted some sort of voting mechanism before allowing a city hall to be placed where a majority of homeowners within the potential radius of a city hall would have to agree to its placement. That would be more like what happens in an incorporation in the real world.
