I usually don't crit more than 10% with my crafting, but last night, I blew 3 walls trying to make a factory!

1: fail

2: fail

3: success

4: success

5: fail

6:success

This is not including failing on 3 bricks that went into the 60 bricks I had to make. The walls alone were just over 50% failure.

I am using the same tools I've always used and crafting in the same location I've always crafted. This has never happened to me before, and I haven't exprienced it since.

Yeah, I just about cried.

I don't know when you guys are gonna grab on ... crits will happen in this game and the tools you use have a lo to do with it. I haven't taken one box in furniture yet which means my assembly is nill. I have all 99% effectiveness tools. I don't fail nearly as much as you guys do. I expect as I climb this last 4 boxes my rate of failure will drop even further. I'm not saying that crits aren't too frequent. I think you should check into your tools first before claiming the sky is falling. crafting tools, crafting stations with higher effectiveness seem to reduce your problems near as I can tell.

Perpetual Dark is dead on in his assesment. I can also tell you from gamingexperience and knowledge as a programmer, trying to build a wall or other big item immediately after a crit failure is NOT a good idea. I can't tell you how many times I have crit failed 2 or 3 times in a row.

Unless your gaming and programming experience is all based on SWG (which seems unlikely) then you can't speak with any more authority than anyone else in these forums For all we know, they may have hard coded a percentage of failures in and could even have hard coded a percentage level for double failures. They do it to slot machines in Vegas, which are programmed to be random, and yet to only pay out a certain amount overall.

*I* can tell you how many double failures I've had: 1

That's since launch. In a month of beta, I'd say I probably also had maybe 1. So what does that say about your "statistics"? I think we're wasting our time here trying to promote either side of the story though, as it really is all anecdotal and non-scientific. If we really want a more accurate answer, we need to have a group of at least 10 crafters, all using the exact same material and tools with the exact same stats. They each need to craft at least 100 items in a row, all crafting at approximately the same speed while sitting doing nothing else. Then they all do exactly the same thing again, but with one thing changing, such as the quality of the tool, or a single resource, etc.

Repeat this process a couple times and come back here with the results. Until then, we are all just tellingstories of the boogyman.
