Thread: Only we can fix the Architect profit margin
If ya want to consistantly make 5cr per resource or above on craftables, don't become an architect.
Architecture customers are a diminishing resource, and as such it is a buyers market and will forever be a buyers market. Get a clue, resources sell in small qty for 6cr to 20cr. Because peeps are also buying scxp along with it. As the people scxp'ing diminish, or buying convience cause they only need a small qty. Nobody buys ordinary resources at 6 cr or above ... for long.
Factories, houses, and harvesters need to wear ... even with paid maintenance. Quality and expermentation on structures needs to do something to increase the value so that the higher level rare material market doesn't drop and architects can sell for good profits and a ready and realiable market for hiqh quality structures.
After many mmorpg, here is one piece of advice you can take to the bank ..... there will always be a market for high quality items in the game. On some of the older games, if an item is 98%, it will still be considered junk by many players.
So bloviate all you want about forming architect unions and what have you with price controls. It isnt' going to work.
I suscribe to the 5 cpu as many of you know. Just make technical sense. I should theordically be able to by supplies on bazaar only, and craft them into an item to make a profit. It will be an extremly small profit, but a profit none the less.
In posting on boards more people are influenced and they play the game and influence others.
Thoughs who say what's the point of posting most architects dont read these boards, well whats the point to voting it's only one vote. It's the same concept.
I think at the very least we should make a profit over the avg cpu of rare materials, thats not soo out of this world that people should ghawk at that and think im out of my mind.
I subscribe to the Architects holding the line and not underselling themselves but my reply is mainly to the trolls who are lurking here and feel that we overcharge at 5/cr per unit (which btw, I feel should be bumped up for high level items that take far more time and components, then resource value per credit).
I have several accounts on SWG and I have been playing since Beta II. Since release, I have only played my Architect, concentrating on getting to Master to build our PA Hall. I had little time for my other 2 accounts up until now.
I started a scout because he looked like fun and wanted something completely different from crafting. I've played this character about 18 hours now.
He has earned a total of 35k credits as a noob character.
This is remarkable.
He also bought his own weapons from the bazaar and some nifty clothing.
He did this by running missions. That's it.
He also could have made MORE credits than this, but he stayed on missions and milked the nests to gain experience in his marksman line.
If he did nothing more than do missions for the next 5 days, he could afford a large house in the lower end of the price range.
Granted, I am an experienced player and I do know how to work the missions. But even if I were NOT an experienced player, and learned as I went, it would not be too difficult to figure out how to earn credits easily.
So, in my opinion, anyone who states that Architects are overpriced are either A) too lazy to earn credits B)have no business sense whatsoever, or C)are attempting to get rich off our products that earn them enourmous profits while we toil endlessly staring at a crafting station.
I think as the game matures, you will see a general increase in prices. Right now, there are a bunch of master architects or people working to reach master. Because of this, people are selling low so that they can get the business. Since we are all limited to one character per server, and can easily change skill sets, I forsee many of these leaving architecht and becoming another profession. Structures will then get rarer, and the price will go up naturally. Also, since the game is so new, not everyone has alot of money and can afford the higher prices. As their characters mature and gain more money, they will be willing to pay higher prices as well.
