Thread: Architect Morale Poll
Very good Tweaky. Of course it just gets me thinking that with the new decay on TC, I should just dump arch for weaponsmith. /sigh
I for got to add to what brings be down about architecture:
Dayln
Morale is low for this Architect. Not having a role in the war is not fun. Watching the toon run for 3k only to find the harv field filled with red dots is no fun either. It really would be nice to have a droid to keep track of the harvs for me. I would expect to run out to them to set them up, take them down, and collect resources, but feeding maintenance and power is not fun.
The great wait on experimentation changesis a whole lot of un-fun.
And I guess the most depressing is hearing about colleagues quitting the profession to become resource sellers because it's less hassle and better money. That's a pretty clear demonstration of the low opinion held of Architects by the general public.
The new TC versions of this (lowering base rate and giving even more differentiation options) are even more encouraging.
The one hang up, and I play the game trusting that they know this, is that there needs to be a form of decay introduce, and the most obvious place to start is on harvesters. The best suggestion I've heard so far was to tie maintenance rate to decay, making it more expensive over time. Love it, although extraction rate is another option, to have that impacted by decay. I still do not think houses should be subject to decay, but it's important that new housing styles become available occasionally, and/or that experimentation be allowed to affect them meaningfully (item storage comes to mind, and lot usage).
Short list:
1) fix broken schematics (master armoir)
2) add 50+ furniture items we can currently look at but not make (glowy cantina tables, more plants, etc)
3) introduce decay or something like it so that people have incentive to replace harvs
There is no point to being an Architect. We're not even architects, we're construction management... if we were architects, we'd be able to design the floorplans of our own structures..
NO FUTURE!
There will ALWAYS be architects, I'll be one for as long as I play, BUT there is NO FUTURE. Nothing compared to weaponsmiths that is.
I agree with most everybody here. I have grown to despise even playing with my architect, what once was fun has now become the biggest headache. I just got to the point that I move harvesters once a week, and craft once a week, and i amfinally able to keep items in my vendor so i thought i could take a break and do other stuff, rebel theme park, Act II missions, etc. Well I cant even sign on without getting spammed by people right and left about this harvester issue or when can i make somebody 10 heavys, yada yada. Hell I can't even explain the experimentation issue to some of these newbs they just dont get it, and i cant blame them because I dont understand what the hell green marine was thinking when he implemented experimentation without making sure we had our 100 exp points? That has to be an oversight, but a costly oversight of a developer that is screwing up the entire profession he is responsible for. I am dreading the patch that will give us 100 points because I am afraid of what that will do to my 'new' harvesters that I had to create after the last patch.
I have been slowing production and only crafting a few items a week, oh and btw I haven't sold but a few harvesters since the last patch. I have lost over 300k in the last week just in harvester maintenance alone (combined with lack of sales). i am scaling back my operation and the only reason I am still an architect is the implementation of player citys. Recently a WS friend of mine was low on resources and he asked to buy some from me (i have plenty of resources) so i said sure, he gave me more money for 50k of resources than I have made in an entire week as an architect. This made me quite upset that I could make more money as a simple resource gatherer than as a master architect!! Why not surrender Architect and be the richest person on the server just selling resources? oh yeah the player city thing hehe.
In the end the last 4 weeks has been a telling tale of my architect-- 4weeks ago I sold 2.6 million credits worth of goods (with my best record day being 1.3million that week, I thought i was on the top of the world). Then the next weeks my sales plumetted and so far this week (5 days) I have only made 200k with having average expenses of 300k per week, every week.
Anyway just waiting on one of two things: 1. Player Citys 2. My holocron
If anyone wants to look for me, I will be playing my Master Combat Medic on Bloodfin who is actually fun to play with.

1 ...I would like to see mixing of classing in the building of these buildings. You have a town hall even a house...you need a droid or parts... shuttleport special terminals.
2 ...Free up a lot or more. THE STUPIDEST THING IN THE GAME....THE ARCHITECT CAN MAKE A LARGE HOUSE BUT DOES NOT HAVE THE LOTS TO PLACE IT. Yes i was yelling. Give architects 1 extra lot for each advancement novice 0...finish all level 1 get 1 additional....that way a master can have a large house without taking many lots....large house 6 lots...get real
3...are we not important enough for holocrons? are crafters...dancers useless in the galactic battle? apparently the only way to get a holocron is be a fighter....kill something then get 2-3-4-5- holocrons and then grind through the different professions...If you start as a crafter.....sorry your SOL unless someone will sell you one...or you are an idiot....
while on #3 it doesnt help to have people grinding through archtect to dump all their buildings at %$ prices and then run off.
4..machines decay even with maintenance....give them a chance to fail...we put tons of materials and risk a critical failure....so should homes and machines....equiptment stops running...hoppers decrease in size, pull rates drop. For homes lights fail, walls crack, the amount a home will hold should decrease.
5...like was said in the post ...we avoid un-fun. Death and level loss are unfun...corps runs are unfun.. A critical failure on a PA hall is unfun. Lose resources ...not components. we lose enough components making them.
6..Colored furnature, storage containers, more selections. It would be nice if there were quests to get special schematics for special artwork, paintings ect.
thats all for now i gotta go before my boss walks in
To the issue of structure decay...
They should give each structure a finite amount of durability points - just like with weapons or armor. They should keep the maintenance costs (and perhaps even lower them) but with each RL day that passes the durability points of that structure should drop a little. And the maintenance costs should be relative to how many durability points are left from the maxium (current points minus maximum) - i.e. the more "run down" the structure is the more it costs to maintain.
And have structure repair kits artisans can make. But take away the chance for the building to be destroyedsuch as it is with weapons or armor - just make it so that each timeyou use a repair kit it repairs the structure but it lowers the maximum number of durability points possible by a little bit(make it random). After awhile a structures maximum durability number will be so lowthat the costto upkeep it will be motivation for the owner to seek out an architect for a new item ![]()
This would solve thisproblem with lack of decay andkeep the architect profession alive.
My gameplay is now basically split between babysitting factories and standing around doing nothing waiting for someone to have enough ore to make a factory run worth the hassle. Ore concentrations suck and I can't generally get any signifigant amount of ore more than once a week...I'll buy a few hundred k of ore on Friday or Saturday, and by Monday I've pretty much built all I'm going to be able to for the week except replenishing the furniture vendor now and then. In other words, for most of the week I have NOTHING TO DO. No interesting architect missions, no participation in the GCW, no way to work on opening my FSCS (can't get holocrons!), just sitting around and maybe occasionally finding a little more ore and churning out a few more deeds for money I have nowhere to spend.
My other big morale issue, after filling an order for about 300 furniture items, is that structure factories are SLOW AS HELL! 120 seconds to make a small potted plant? You can't be serious! Items that take me about 65 seconds to craft manually take over FOUR MINUTES in the structure factory. In the real world if factories were four times slower than people we wouldn't be using factories. Factories should be at LEAST as fast as hand crafting if not faster.
If I sound more than a bit frustrated here it's because I am. I think it's the furniture order that broke me...I've spent two days sitting around waiting for factories to finish.
Hi,
what takes my morale down is the simple fact that the stuff I craft is not even worth the ressources they are made of when I try to sell them. I dont have a Problem to sell one or two items a week, but if I dont even get the money of it I would have gotten when selling the raw materials it is frustrating.
Noone wants to pay a reasonable price for our stuff, at least not on the servers I visited. We simply put things together and the only challenge is the ressource-management to be able to build. This Class is as time-consuming as others, but does not pay off.
I started to work as Architect, I only make stuff for myself and really good friends, and I am always sad that I cant even for friends compete with the prices of some people who cant calc.
If you need something else to earn your Money even as a Masterits a broken class.
