Thread: Have your sales fallen off lately?

I totaly agree - I always make sure my vendors are stocked with a hundred or so deeds covering all available types - and I know of other architects on the server who stock deeds in the several hundreds. We all charge what we (and our customers) consider to be reasonable rates - and as such we get a good degree of repeat business, can cater for special (urgent) orders with a minimum of fuss, and even provide discounts to long term customers, city residents and guild members.

And we are able to do it without resorting to undercutting practices. We make a nice tidy profit which is invariably plowed back into the economies of our servers, thus keeping everything ticking along. If I was in for myself, I could of made a fortune, but I'm not, I'm in for the game and for the good of the community. And thats the way I like to play the game.

I do the same as Donah and Stu, fully stocked vendors (for what I sell), no undercutting (in fact I am usually about the last to drop my prices even when things aren't selling), and I keep abreast of prices and try to stay competitive at the top end. Lots of advertising, in fact I possibly overdo that. It goes in waves, sometimes stuck with only a few sales in a week, then suddenly there is a rush. I am happy to sit out the dry spells and not panic, I am not in a high density area and rely upon advertising, word of mouth and passing trade, so I expect some weeks to be worse than others. I am still in business, so I must be doing something right.

Very true Cafa. People that I help out be explaining harvesting or giving them a starter weapon, they often turn into great customers.

It isnt just architect sales dropping or flucuating(sp?) it is all sales on all types of items. The city I run is all crafters with a mall and everyone is saying sales are very slow right now. It seems that perhaps it is the time of year, alot of schools having finals and ending soon, kids going home for the summer or starting to look for jobs, etc. Usually this time of year things slow down.

This seems to be my experience too on my server. ...

Yes I think there is more of a general economic down turn and not really specific to architects. There are a few factors involved: The hologrind has pretty much died down. College age folks are either in finals or otherwise busy (spring break maybe?) Spring is keeping some folks outdoors more. The game has been running for 9 months and some people are just plain getting bored of it and wandering off. Plus you've got beta projects of other MMORPGs going on now.

My sales were way down for about a month, but have picked back up pretty good this last week.

This seems to be my experience too on my server. I am a merchant and run 6 vendors and manage a mall
of 27+ vendors. I (we?) also noticed a dramatic slowdown in sales over the last 2-3 weeks. In most or all categories. I was wondering if it ment more people were getting Hi-Tech work I hope so cause I could use some economic stimulus in RL myself

I think I stated earlier that sales have fallen off for the last few weeks and Iexpected sales to increase when school lets out.

I'm now seeing increased sales. A bit early, but it looks as though the economy is recovering. The economic boom may be massive when school is out.

My sales dropped off a long time ago, but then again, when you put your architect into semi-retirement, that is bound to happen. Now, he builds for, *cough*, free.. only small generic houses mind you, and the occasional swoop for new members in the city that I live in and have helped to build. Yep, city Architect, and it DOES have it's priveledges.

Nice thing is, I'm not draining my resources on a daily/weekly basis. I can actually harvest when I want, as much as I want, and sell for profit. WOOT!

Will I bring him out of his semi-retirement? Possibly, but there has to be a pretty significant reason to do such, and right now, a few candles and paintings aren't cutting the mustard. I want some new houses, more than anything else, well, that's a close 2nd to the fact I want all terrain harvesters. We have some EXCELLENT class 4 on our server right now, and I missed the extra 2-3% because of terrain, yep had to suffer with 96% instead of 99%, that just sucks.

Anyway.. sales.. naw, I turn them down now, and send them on to other Architects, especially up and coming ones.

Naritus perspective (with a colony of well known well established architects):

Sales of personals and medium harverstersvery low

Sales of houses and factories ... stable .. as always

Sales of city structures and gardens .... low .. mostly special order

Sales of furniture .... low ... mostly special order ... not many interior designers

Sales of heavy harvesters ........ stable to high (JLS Announcement starts being felt) ...

Sales of BER 14 Patch day harvesters (non fusion) and BER 11 mediums ... slow (but steady)

Sales of crafting stations ... slow but steady

Overall sales are lower as can be expected, but architects are not beggars here.

I sell about 20 heavy harvesters per week, but thats because I was busy with other stuff. Could do 3 times that plus factories and houses but I am way behind in restocking vendors .... business mostly by special order these days. Still Naritus is well supplied by several well known architects with higher prices than me but stable vendor offers ... its a nice balance between us I would say.

The overall upgrading of harvester fleets to heavies is accompanied with a general lowering of resource prices to around 2 cpu .... with special resources from half a year ago reaching to as high as 1500 cpu ( WS price war :-)

Have fun
