I think the most important thing reguarding critical failure is the material qualities compared to the schematics desired qualities.


For instance say your building structure modules, the schematic tells you the important qualities are,


Decay resistence 50%


Unit Toughness 50%


(at work so these are just an example not sure of the actual stats)


If you use materials that have a low value in these two areas you chance of failure is going to be much greater (I think)


So I think its best to use qualities that are at least in the 500 range of what your schematic wants.


If you mess around and use a resource that is say below 100 in the desired category your asking for trouble.


resource qualities range from 1-999

Heh Bitslizer I have had up 3 crits in a row Was really noticable when I was doing the grind for novice architect.


Really though...final combines should be set to never fail. It is just too discouraging. Components, fine, I can live with losing a generator turbine now and then...but a factory or large house (or pa hall..ugh)? That should not be allowed to happen.
