Thread: Over Reacting to the new patch?

I run about 120 structures/deeds (not all at once) of different types. In that time I have lost 2 harvesters due to redeeding without enough maintenance (before that stupid code thing) and one that ran out of maintenance. Over the life of this game I have had at least 150 deeds, maybe more. So my losses are about 1.5% and my upgrades/extra harvester deeds and structures for use are at 98.5%. I do rarely if ever need new deeds.

I would say the majority of the business comes from new people into the game. Anyone that runs a city knows you go through a lot of house deeds trying to get new people in to keep that pop up. That is were most of the business comes from.

Now I am not saying this isn't an impact, but it is hardly a big chunk of business. Once the char wipe goes through and all the lot traders and those that have structures on old friends lots that left the game will be begging for new deeds to replace what they lost. How many of actually keep your factories on your lots? What happen when the account you have that factory on gets deleted?

I don't see this as a bad thing actually. Once it is fully completed I can see it being more of a help to architect than a henderence.

This is really the core of our problem, NOT the current patch. Tho I do believe that we as a profession have been extremely patient. My main stay is harvesters and most of them come from lot swaps which I hate even more, but until decay, modular or new structures, or GCW structures are added, I will feed the monster and screw the morals. While I wont lot swap myself, I wont stop selling to lot swappers.

Now everyone can/will have maximum lot swaps that they can let sit idle until they get an uber spawn that they wish to harvest. When that spawn shifts out let em sit idle with 0 maint until the next good spawn....nice cycle.

Its very likely that we are missing something to complete the "Big Picture"(tm). Fixing of lot swaps and harv farms, the mythical character purge, etc... The Devs are notorious for NOT telling us anything we WANT to know. So I find it conceivable that soon(tm) we will see the rest of their "plan" put into action. Unfortunetaly, the snails pace they operate on would mean that we wont see the rest of the "plan" for 12 to 18 months from now.

So we'll have to live with permanent structures for a year or two before they get around to fixing us. Then again, they will probably start giving small house deeds to all new players pretty soon too. It seems every other patch they take away something else from the crafting professions and give it away for free.

I am a bit testy this week. I'm really tired of waiting for the combat upgrade to start. I am tired of seeing so many long-term bugs stay in game. I should resist posting for a couple weeks, hehe.

You are so right, they started by giving them a speeder.. and the next thing you will know is that they will get personal harvesters

A) I like that you put plan in quotes like that. Dunno why it gives me a chuckle.

B) Yes they probably will give newbies small houses. Then half the newbies will build the house just cause they discover they have it yet they will not have any idea of house maintenance works so it will eat up their bank account without telling them it is doing so. Ya that sounds about right.

That's only if you really believe there will be a character wipe. They've skipped announced character wipes at least twice now. I'd say account maintenance is a rather low priority. The combat revamp and content addition I think will require a lot of manhour resources, as SOE tries to persuade people to keep playing and for others to come back. We'd have a few trial offers for ex-players to come back already.

I'm sure new players to the game make up a great portion of any architect's income, but I suspect that a lot of business is more to expansion by existing players or players that never bothered to get more than a small house or two, trying harvesters and other things.
