And you have every right to price your stuff however you feel is right, I will defend that to the end. What is funny in this thread is I am usually on the side of the low price guys. I thought it was funny that I found myself on the other side of the argument.

Well here's an ounce of data on furniture pricing from my experience.

I started out pricing at 3-5 cpu depending on the item, which I thought was pretty low but I charged more for higher demand and low for the basic items that every novice architect was dumping on the bazaar for cheap. I sold a bit of furniture that way but not a lot.

Then I started raising prices to 5-10 cpu. I sold a bit of furniture that way but not a lot.

It seems to me that people are willing to pay more for furniture, particuarly anything above novice level. I think a lot of people just don't know what furniture requires to make. I seem to have no complaints charging up to 10 cpu for furniture and people call me 'nuts' if I quote 3-4 cpu for houses. /shrug

At the same time I know of a few shops that have furniture at 3-4 cpu for most items. I also bought 2 small beds at 800 each and 2 large bests for 1200 each. Wooly hide typically runs 5-10 cpu on our bazaar. So its not like people can't find better prices if they shopped around.

YMMV on your server.

So I guess my point is: It seems to me that you can charge whatever you want for turniture. It will probably sell fine. So charge more, you can always come down in prices if you need to. Increasing prices is a way harder.

heck... with the exception of novice items (which i rarely even bother with) I charge a flat 10 cpu on all my furniture and find myself having to restock items every day on my vendor and the bazaar. There are others who sell for less and thats fine, I just find it funny when i see people selling things for 1500 that I can without blinking sell it for 3k off my vendor...

I used to advertise my vendor from bazaar sales, but only do it now and then at this point as I don't need to... the big thing i've found is that if i keep what they want in stock they will buy it almost regardless of price.... the only items i vary my price on are master items which i generally mark up an extra 1000 and data terminals... same deal since they require factory run components. Torches have to big a market so I always keep a few around but don't really mark em very high.... consider them bonus for the customer... hehe

Ropock,

It is funny isnt it? I almost had to ask for Rathe and Two Head to come help me out. But it is really like I have always said.

If demand is greater than supply then prices are high ( this seems to be true for furniture, as there is 10 times ( or more ) the number of furnature peices needed as houses

If demand is lower than supply then pricesare low( which is the case with buildings)

Either way though, he has every right to set whatever price he wants.

oh, believe me, I agree with ya.... I've never disagreed with that basic set of logic at all. We may disagree on where pricing should be set, but basic economics like that are always accurate.

It was just so funnyto see that I can't help laughing.... I was sure I'd look out my window and see snow (I live not to far from Hell, Michigan)

Ah! I think we figured out Dayln's secret strategy:

Sure I can sell you a house for cheap. Would you be wanting some furniture with that?... ok so thats 3k for the small bed, 2k for the 2 basic chests... etc... total comes to 87k for the small house and the furniture.

Hmm...

I wonder how close to true that really is.

I am not arguing either, just offering my pricing schedule and you are right it will also depend on the server your city the number of competors - a lot of factors to consider and not really a cut and dry - this will work for everyone everytime solution.

I was just offering another alternative - and I was only mentioning - that on my server the greater demand is for the harvesters right now - even houses are slow and arch's are unloading them for 6k each and not even making them much anymore.

If the demand goes up then most definately the pricing will follow.

Ropock, I have seen some of your items sold at the bazaar and I have been tempted many a time to send you a sincere "Thank you!" You and I seem to charge similar prices on our furniture items and it is refreshing to see that not everyone feels they have to undersell just to keep up with the competition. Everything sells eventually, doesn't it? In fact my furniture business has become so successful I rarely even sell on the bazaar anymore.

Right now I've seen the cost of wooly hides selling for 15cpu and so hard to find in bulk! So nowI'mselling large beds for 5500, small for 4000, round sofas for 4000. I'm too lazy to do the math but let me tell you, they are flying off the vendors. If you are interested in discussing pricing structures on our server, send me a tell or email and perhaps we can compare notes.

Carpe Diem!

It appears that many of you use the structure pricing plan for furniture. Furniture is a goldmine if you have a shop at the right place with the right marketing strategy. Playing 'nice' at structure prices made me a slave to the vender restocking. I hiked my prices up...way up. I was uncomfortable with the prices, but I had to control the sell outs on my vender. I go 8-10 cr/unit and I still sell quickly. Items with unique materials (master arch), go for 20+/unit. Supply & Demand...do not be a slave to any vender or buyer.

Now that I hit master, and i was SOOO excited about making alot of Ivory furniture, and realized how hard it was going to be to get those hides (with a huge scout nerf to my husband's bio engineer, getting hides is secondary to his meat, not to mention how many I would need) and some of that rarer ore and metals, I will definately not let this furniture go cheap.

My prices average

wood looking bookcase, curved chest, armoire, small bed, red sofa, sofa chairs, large yellow couch, cafe table, pink chaise $4,000.00

Curved cabinet, large bed $5,000.00

Dining table $6,000.00

Reclining Chair, Pilot Bench, Black Ottoman, Yellow loveseat, Metal Furniture, Upholstered Chair, wooden chair, cafe ugly table +14 crafting stations
