Thread: Decay Poll
/ agree both.
everything else eventually does decay. weapons armor ect....
Houses do decay thats why you pay maintenance...it isn't rent...it's home repair and upkeep. Houses don't decay that fast in real life and oneor at the most two houses should last the life of the user. Now maybe throwing in random natural castastrophies would be a solution.
i think i want decay.
to whoever said that they don't want to have to re-create "permanent" decorations, like fish tanks, or something to hide pipes in the basement:
you agreed on decay for houses....but not furniture, based on not wanting to re-create all of the cool things/effects right?
how you going to move them into your new house you'll have to buy?
just trying to be helpful. I think decay is needed. Maybe not in a "your structure just up and quits working/disappears" kind of way, too much hassle moving, etc, but i think you need to address the fact that having eternal structures isn't a good idea.

We already have structure decay. It's called maintenance. I insert credits into the coin-operated houses and extractors that I own so that they do not decay and disappear.
It has been my experience that most personal harvesters and wind generators are not redeeded very often, usually, it is cheaper to buy another one, so it is not like architects do not get return customers in this respect.
I can see how houses might be a problem for architects; however, as I stated, I pay maintenance to avoid structure decay. Of course, even houses wear out, so I expect that in about 20 or 30 years, I may have to buy a new one.
As for furniture decay, that is a two-edged sword. Don't think that just because furniture decays, everyone will run right out and buy more. First off, most people won't spend nearly as much on a piece of furniture that is going to decay in 30 days or so as they do currently, and secondly, there is a large group of people who will just do without. Overall, I suspect that furniture decay will cripple the furniture market.
P.S. - Clothes don't decay, no matter how many times you get shot with a blaster or flamethrower, so why should anything else!

With the possibility of new furniture items appearing over time... might be kind of neat to see what this does, but the structures are just that... structures. If you pay the maitenance they should not go away or wareout like furniture

I've stated my reasons a million times... not gonna do it again here.

First of all, furniture should not decay because there are a lot of people who have a lot of furniture and having an architect craft more would just be a burden on the customer.
Second, structrue decay is not the way to insure that architects have continued business. I don't know what the alturnitive would be, but structure decay would destroy the entire player owned housing system. Maybe housing additions and further external house customization would help.
Are some of you crazy!? I don't want to replace my heavy extractors every month or LESS! Furniture decay yes, make a defense tree and those type of things will be in high demand they can decay, so I vote furniture decay and future CITY structure decay.

One furniture should never decay because it would ruin the last market we would have. Who would spend thousands of credits on furniture it its going to decay over a few months, people will rather have their houses empty then deal with that.
Housing decay would also ruin the market, why spend money on a large or medium house when its going to go away over time and forget about furnishing it or hiring a decorator for it. Harvestor decay is probably the one thing I might agree with but in the end it'll piss more people off then it will make us a new market.
Make experimenting count, give us new furniture and new structures, thats the only way to bring the archtect market back.
