Well i am for an association I am also not for price fixing.
Left to its own the market will figure out the price. We have no way to regulate prices! Sure we could buy up all houses that we see on the market that are underpriced and either resell them or destory them. It won't work people will just take all the customers by selling low. If the prices stay low then the Arcitects will go away and become gunsmiths if there is profit to found there. In time with less architects and more demand prices will go up until people see there are huge profits to make and will come back to the profession.
Its simple supply and demand. I for one will charge what the market allows me to charge and still make a living. If I want to sell alot of houses then i will keep selling at 10k if i want to sell fewer but want a big pay off then I will sell at 25k. When the market is working and the econemy established both people will make about the same. Assuming a house cost an even 8k to make. The person selling at 10k will need to sell6 to make the profit of the person selling one at 25k will make.
Anyway I am just babling I say we let the market decide the prices but we should come here to discuss the issues and express our frustrations with the economy and all the people under cutting our prices.
I hope your building goes well.

I don't sell for 8k any more. But I'm not going to go as high as most of you are. Your little "Union" is garbage. We are self employed... There is no need for this. You're trying to live in your own perfect world and predict outcomes of what youthink will happen... Get a real job, get a l ife. It doesn't take that much work to build a house. People can sell them for what ever they need or want. You people are the dumb ones trying to set standards... That is total crap. It completely ruins a real economy. If you want to sell houses for a set price why not just let NPC's sell them? As more and more Architects are comming up the ranks, your little dream ofa happy perfect community of Architects all selling for 1 set price will be crippled by reality. Maby not by me, but by others. I am selling my houses for 15,000 now because I found some good uses for the cash, but my prices may vary depending on how much I need it.
As an example, the other day I saw a nice wood sign at some shop for 70 dollars, I figured the price was way to high and I didn't want to pay 70 for it. About a week later, I saw the same exact sign at another store, for 35 dollars and bought it. How do you think Wal Mart got so big? By lowering prices.
Set prices and agreements like this are total B.S.
Idori, what on earth have you been smoking? There is no restrictions on prices in the United States. We have a free economy. If I want to sell an item that costs me 5 dollars to make for 3 dollars, I am free to do so. Of course I"ll be losing money, but the US Govt doesn't step in and tell me not to do that.
Go back to class and slap your economics teacher, he/she has done you wrong.
Although I like the idea of a band of Architects working together, I do not like the price fixing aspect of it. If I choose to sell at a loss its my choice and mine alone.
Lets look at an example of what I think will happen to people who sell houses on the cheap: Joe Schmuckatelli comes along and sells his small houses for 8k a piece. He thinks he's living the life! Making money hand over fist. But what of his gameplay? He HAS to sell houses EVERY DAY to keep up the maintenance on his harvesters, so now he logs in, grinds out a couple of houses and goes around begging to sell them. So he lets his harvesters burn right?!? Joe now lets the harvesters burn out and when he goes to replace them, someone else has set up a harvester on "HIS" primo Ore spot. So Joe puts one up at a lesser concentration and goes back to work. His harvesters will pull less material from the ground so he needs more of them just to make houses with. His whole existance will be running around, collecting resources from his decaying harvesters and pounding out cheapo deeds.
What has our friend Joe Schmuckatelli done? He has reduced himself to working an actual JOB while he's playing a GAME!
How long do you think that Joe is going to continue to do this? A week? A month maybe? This kid would get so sick and tired of having to login just so he can sell a house that he'll be bored and give up the profession. Architects that will be with us for the long haul will be the ones who build relationships, sell at fair prices but still profit, and actually have FUN playing their character.

Are you replying to me? Nowhere in my post did I say that 15k was too cheap to sell a house. I don't think that 8k is too cheap either, but i do think that those ppl that sell for 8k are going to get sick and tired of making houses all day and move on to other professions.
O.k Lostinspace , Glad you have a real life job ...Here's your cookie , hope you enjoy it I made it cheap
just cause I know thats the way you like it ...
I will sell my houses for 15 K + will look at market value and adjust accordingly ...If I see prices at 10k well I might just sell them for that also ...Who knows , we will need to work together (to some extent)
But I also agree the childeren will get bored soon enough and split . Those who stick it out will be the ones that people remember and respect ...
I will also barter with folks , maybe they have some ore or metal , so they will get a discounted price ...
Coming here and calling people losers for trying to get prices to be similiar in all worlds , is pretty childish ...Dont want to do It fine , sell what you want when you want , its a free world
i dont believe in price fixing either...
the 10K was created by the BETA bazaar limit...yeah house are pretty easy to make one the res starts rolling in...i even priced some at 9500 to get that quick cash
but at the end of beta people wanted to buy smalls for 5K...that would run my factories and harvestors for 1 day ans basically leave nothing over for me...if i was really paying the maintence and power...i would have to sell a house a day to keep my head above water...god forbid i should be able to have a life outside of the game
You guys need to look at the big picture...at round trip ticket to some of the planets costs 3600...so the other players are thinking hmmmm should i go to Dathomir hunting or buy another house ..
My father was a developer...it is kind of similar to things in game..he had to buy the land then the materials, hire the labor and then sale the homes...until the sale everything was costing him money...
i guarantee you he didnt think well this really only cost me 35 to build, no way should i charge 70...and no one every put in a developmet adjacent to his and sold the homes for 10K
I'm not concerned about the anti-free-market rabble. It sounds like union talk. While unions are necessary in the US economy to counteract the power of big business, we don't have such big business power in SWG.
We have a free populace that are free to make their own decisions on what they are willing to pay for items. That will control our prices - not a few people sitting down setting arbitrary tags for our wares.
If we make money too easily, we will draw people to the profession, providing too much supply against a relatively static demand. That will reduce prices. If we find that money is too hard to get, people will try other professions, reducing supply against the relatively static demand. That will raise prices.
Another thing, for those expecting to sell houses for 10K - in the movies, there were references to a starship costing 10K. Think on that a bit. Then decide how "outrageously low" house prices might get.
Developers really have the final control over prices. They set harvester maintenance prices and the relative success of "free" work (sampling). If you want someone to raise prices, ask them to increase harvester maintenance ![]()
