Thread: Housing Prices
Here is the run down
910 units of metal 50 of which must be steel--easy enough
2460 units of ore
and 18 units of chem
if I charge 3 cr per resource unit that is 10164 I would most likely tack on 5000 for my time and effort and to cover any "critical failures"(OMG could you imagine failing on the house itself...all those resources down the drain) also the price may vary due to resource shorfalls. If Ore gets really rare the price will skyrocket. I would hate to see 7000 credit houses on the market(personal vendor) that will truly deflate the economy.
uulonze you should be shot, 2260 for a house?? thats cheaper then a piece of bone armor. these prices are extremely low, for having to get like 3000+ minerals. us architects need to keep prices fairly high. no matter wat we charge they will still buy. im not saying like 100k for a small house but like 25k+.

Xiet Notell, I hope everyone here remembers your attitude towards your fellow Architects. You don't have to be disrespectful to your peers, it's uncalled for.
I am currently selling houses at 25k. People don't have a problem with working for a house, and should expect to. Anyone cutting too low is only going to harm themselves in the long run when you no longer need Structure XP but people still want you to sell so low.
It's a simple matter of supply and demand here folks.
I understand that architects are trying to establish a market value for their product and to undervalue the product means taking a possible long term or possible permanent hit in the housing market.
Everyone MUST remember that the game was just released and everyone is a n00b. Those of you comparing the cost of a weapon to the cost of a small house might not be considering the state of the game. The fact is that combat players skills have increased faster than crafters skills, weaponsmiths in particular. Therfore, the cost of weapons is very high right now because there are far more players looking for weapons than there are crafters who are able to craft such items.
Houses, at this point, are a pure luxury that will appeal to the minority of players who have found a way to raise enough credits to afford whatever profession specific gear they need and have enough left over to splurge on luxury items. While architects might be able to find a few players willing to purchase a deed to a small house for 20-30k, the fact is the number of players able and willing to do so will probably be small, at least for another week or two. That being said, if an architect wishes to gain UXP, it's in their interest to move product. If there are few players willing to pay 20-30k, architects may have to compromise in price in order to drive sales. I think it's a GOOD idea to advertise high, but remain flexible in negotiations.
Simple economics folks. Demand is currently low which makes it difficult to demand high prices and actually expect players to conform and make purchases at inflated rates.
For the record, I did buy a house for 18k because I want to help support the Architects, but 20-30k is just too high at this point for most players. Architects need to make a decision between $$$ and UXP.Which is more important to you?

The UXP issue is moot. I crafted one equipment factory, one small house and a handful of harvesters and I was qualified for first tier (55k exp) architect skills.
8k seems a bit cheap, 10k sounds nice, 15k is what i sell to for kids that talk in l337$p33k

It shouldn't matter how long it takes us to actually make the houses, if you sell them cheap enough so that anyone can run a few missions in a single day and buy a house, houses will become absolutely worthless and the architect profession will be useless.
Let's look at UO or DAoC housing...you would probably have a very hard time buying a house in a single day in UO, and in DAoC...some people may NEVER be able to afford a house.
What good are houses if everyone and their brother can pick one up after doing missions for a day? They will no longer be a valued commodity and the land will look like UO.
Fair price for a small house is 20k. That's what they went for in beta basically. All these people running around selling houses for next to nothing are hurting all architects. There is a huge jump in resources for medium and then large houses, people are going to start to expect to get these things dirt cheap. Its really sad to me cause owning a house should be a great event..something special. Now they are selling for less than a full suit of armor. It really sucks.
All crafters need to wake up and stop ruining the economy just to get UXP. Remember the longer the game goes and there are more crafters prices will drop even more and the only professions with any money will be the combat classes.
You can sell your house on market make one for yourself a house and plant it train bus 3 and place a vendor then you have a lot less limitation. I am making my place public with high level crafting stations and a vendor. I feel pricing should be something to "work" toward if we start really low then the value will deflate from there and eventually we will have 3k houses. We work really hard procuring the resources to make a deed and it only gets harder later. Not to mention failures of whole house...happened to me today. So I say say 25-30k the market will adjust if need be. We can't set the bar to low or we will very sorry later
Heh, I'm afraid that Kettemoor is already screwed... look at the idiot in this thread:

Now I won't even be able to afford my harvesters with idiots like this killing the market.
