Thread: Pricing help, high end crafting stations
Lol, so true Griswel
Some people price gouge and holler when someone sells lower. Some sell too low. I like to think I am in the middle and charge a fair price.
Dayln,
I would be doing the same as you now (an maybe i will in the future) if the market conditions were different for me.
To be honest my prices started quite a bit lower, but I found that I had to commit more time than I was comfortable with restocking my vendors.
I started monitoring the velocity of the verious items I sell, and adjusting the price upwards on the items I was having to restock too often. Right now my prices have been pretty stable for a couple of weeks (one or two exceptions). I think I have reached a good balance point where I charge more than my competition but get alot of repeat and referal business because of my location, product range, and service.
If I lowered prices I am afraid i would increase sales to the point where I couldnt maintain the edge that I have in the factors I consider key to my sucess.
There is undobtedly a market for lower priced items... but it seems ( from my extensive touring of other architects stores
) that there are few people actualy positioned and prepared to capture that market. It is a lot of work at my level, and Im sure even more when you go down the price scale.
Each of us has a point where the rewards (profit) cease to be sufficient to justify the effort involved. I believe I have my prices right about at the point where it is worthwhile for me.
The sales velocity and profit margin in my business are allowing me to go on Buying trips around the galaxy searching out those hard to find pieces that make my vendor one of the best stocked. Much to my surprise (as Im not a natural salesman) I am enjoying the Merchant part of my character almost as much as the Crafting.
Incidentally.... I hope that I am helping to keep prices on the server up at a respectable level, at least for the time being.. though I doubt any one of us makes much of a difference. Maybe some others might follow my lead... I can always dream ![]()
