I think that we all are missing the most obvious (and insidious) reason for the quests.
TIME SINK, MONEY SINK, RESOURCE SINK!!!!!
SOE knows that there is still a glut of resources and credits in the game.
And as everyone knows, the longer we play this game, the longer $OE gets our money.
'Nuff Said.....

I bet what they did was just setup a very basic system:

THen they didn't filter the schematic list at all and they picked too low of numbers for the payouts.
Maybe they tested it for 1 profession and it seemed ok so they figured it was good to go.
Ok, I can buy that Pawlin. Then they should fess up that they made a mistake in its implementation and that they're going to make it better.
Claiming it's working as intended and defending this obviously flawed game feature only serves to insult the intelligence of their customer base and makes them look inept.

It seems to me that they do everything in the game like this.

I really hope a Dev read these posts. I love doing new stuff and when I heard they had these Crafting quests starting I was excited. I thought, that being about half way through Architect that I would get a nice quest to work with and provide with a change of pace. I went with the hardest one figuring that it would give the best quest to do. I had to make 6 automated Flora harverstors (medium ones). Never having made these before, I about freaked out when I looked at what was needed to make all 6. Now, I won't mention all the different resourse and Items needed to make these 6. I will focus on the 6 turbine generators that were needed to make them though. Just those 6 items require so many resourses to make them that it is just incredible. So, after finally making all the items to make to put into each harvestor and making the the 6 Harvestors themselfs. I had read the Devs response to what the quests were intended to do before starting this quest. I took them back and knowing that I would lose out on the payment then actually selling the six harvestors and that I would not get as much exp as I could grinding the resourses. I was fine with it as it gave me a goal instead of mindless grinding. Right now I still want to slam my fists into my keyboard from what I recieved for making these 6 harvestors and waisted all those resourses. 240 credits and 2400 exp was all I recieved. Let me repeat, 240 credits and 2400 exp WAS ALL I GOT. How does any one count that as any kind of reward for the work that I just put in. This was the first time I have ever been mad at what has been added and been broke or things I come across that needs fixed ect, ect. This one time I felt that all the negative posts I have read and dismissed as some one just being upset for that moment. I finally understood and I just knew that some one at SOE was trying to get all of the players to QUIT the game by ruining their fun while playing the BEST GAME I have ever come across. The reward doesnt have to make some one rich or give them that much of a bonus to make them feel good, but giving that little of a reward is just mean.

The problem, again, with the whole thing is crafters have NO REPRESENTATION at the design table.
Gawd, I just amazed that this was even suggested.
Really getting ready to play anohter game for a while, the producers of SWG have lost their freaking minds even more than I thought capable.

Well, just thinking about this, something did strike me. The only place where I can see crafting master level items would be useful for the XP bonus would be in Artisan, as you need that to get into the elite professions.
Granted it seems that their template for quests is the same across the whole board, it might not be geared towards the elites as thats not considered a starting profession. From the Artisan point of view, this might actually be not so bad of a thing. Artisan items tend to take up less resources, and are rather varied. For architect, there are far too many high cost items for a very miniscule reward to be worth it.
I haven't looked at the Artisan side of this, so I am not sure, but it is starting to sound this is mostly meant to be used during the very early artisan phases.

if your a crafter and are having trouble selling items maybe your not cut out to be a crafter at all. part of the prof requires the sale of the goods you produce...c'mon devs....this game is so flawed....but thats fine JTL will be awesome...

Well that quests really pointless for Architect… I don’t know about Artisan and ets. But when i try it Contractor give me quest on making 10 deed for Naboo city hall…
So as all time before those quests not for Architect… since low one can easy grind on gungan head statues… And masters… well masters still best business is selling furniture…

For me, a big part of the fun in crafting is in seeing just what I can (and can't)sell of thestuff I grind away on, vendor/bazaar, doesn't matter, load it up and be surprised by your email when you get on next. I'd rather see an architect quest give free walls or schematicsthan credits anyhow. I'd like the idea of a progressive type quest that would open up random new items in unreached boxes or for Masters some new schematic that isn'tattainable by merely grinding...or a bonus experimentation point or two for doing a long series of crafting quests. (that may hurt economy for those unwilling or unable to do long quests however)
I'm just back from a long break, made a new char on Bria before returning to this guy and made it to Master Artisan from scratch in very little time, I don't think these new quests will help an Artisan much at all, would probably even slow them quite a bit. Which may be SoEs plan.
