Its likely that the stations over 44 were made taking advantage of the one day only experimentation system we had on 'temporary tuesday'. For one day they chaned how experimentation worked and you could get 45.0 on that day. So if someone made schematics that day then they'd be able to beat the current limits based on materials.
Or the other peole may not have the same resources that you do. They might have some very high stat stuff they picked up 10-11 months ago that you don't have.
What are the stats on your materials?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been on vacation for a week. Anyway, I think this may be the case since there is only one person selling theseStations (as far as I know). And when I look at the quality of my resources, a 43.66 seems reasonable (it's certainly one of the highest I've seen except for those 44.49's). I can still give you a listing of the resources I use if you have the time to take a look at it, but in short, I get 99% Control Units and Energy Distributors, 96% Droid Storage Compartments and 92% Micro Sensor Suites (which are made with the experimented components). Finally I use 997 Conductivity Copper for the Stations themselves. So all in all the 43.66 seems about right.

You might want to try plugging the numbers for your materials into this Crafting Assistant tool:
http://www.geocities.com/loserwan/
It will figure out the rating of the station you should be able to get.
I'd bet your 43.66 rating is the real max with current experimetation system.

I should be crafting my 1st station soon
1000 conductivity Copper
96% Droid storage Mods
95% Control Units
95% Micro Sensor Suits
Place bids now on what this will achieve
will craft tommorow and place my result here
PLACE BETS NOW

My guess..
42.8

...and the amusing thing is, a craft station with a 0 rating makes as good a product as one with 40+.
Doesn't seem to make much difference in the fail rate either. Maybe it's just me.

But you've gotta WIN this game! So the higher number the better!
(Aside from that, the official statement is that it does help. Even though you might not be able to empirically prove it

Hey all.
Just wondering what all components/subcomps have to be experimented up to top quality to get the best crafting station ratings. I'd experiment it myself, but I have no DE handy most of the time, so the storage modules are a little hard for me to come by and can't be easily tossed aside by tossing them around in trial and error, if'n you know what I mean.
Is the main one the modules made by the DE? Or is it anything I as a master architect / master aritsan can do on my own to boost that rating a lot?
Thanks!

all of them matter equally, including the DE ones... I used super MA parts and just got the DE parts off random_Droid_Engineer01 and they sucked, used the same MA parts and 99% DE parts and got up to 42.. hope this helps.

Exactly what I was looking for.
Wasn't 100% sure how much the DE modules mattered. Now I know to be particularly choosy.
Thanks!

Buried in the depths of the FAQ there is a link to a Crafting Assistant:
http://www.geocities.com/loserwan/
If you plug your resource stats into that XLS sheet then it will calculate the expected rating for the crafting station. Its pretty accurate, within probably a couple percent.
THe droid storage compartments will add -5 to +5 to the rating. So really poor DSCwill decrease the quality of your final station by up to -5.
