Rightly so? Why?

Because I dont care to give SOE a second account. I am a fighter and a crafter on one account. Elite elite professions deny that.

It makes construction line actually worth something. I do aggree that the city hall should be master rather than some useless parks. Everything else looks fine to me.

I'm one of the shmoes who will only grab a lone box or two for the structures I need for myself, and occasional side-cash. I DON'T think I or folks like me should be able to build cities. Master only sounds OK to me.

Remember to cut me some slack on my cantina!

I disagree - Master Architect.

I'd like to see a sensible system, like the one for houses and harvesters, but not 100% master or even close.

This is a skill based game, NOT a class based game. The joy is that I can pick bits of many professions to make my character how I want within the confines of my 250 skill points, If I want to become a Jack-of-all-trades and Master of none then more power to me (I am not a J-o-a-t btw, I am a Master Architect/Master Artisan) and if I just want to build some city buildings, fine, if I just want to build harvestors, fine, if I just want eyeshot and pistol mods, fine.

This is not the problem, the problem isn't that dabblers can profit from one tree, the problem is there is no incentive, no reasonto BECOME a Master. We used to have one, transient, the venerable PA Hall, but its time in the sun is over and gone, we need something else to make Master worthwhile, we needan edge, a reason. We are Masters, we've devoted the time, the effort, the skill points, we SHOULD have an edge over every branch of architect below us, we should have something that gives a big bright pink neon sign that lets everyone glaringly know that what you get from a Master is going to be B-E-T-T-E-R than what you get from a Novice or a one-tree-wonder. But right now, we don't, we got nadda, zip, zero incentive to be Master. Now I totally agree that there should still be a place for the novices, the aspiring Masters, and this is a place that needs work.

On TC they have put in the full +100 to assembly and Experimentation, and a big number of that comes at Master, but not big enough really, not enough to make it worthwhile, profitable to work your way to the top the profession.

This problem, failure, isn't ours to suffer alone, many professions in SWG have no incentive to be Master. Smugglers, for instance get nothing worth the time and effort for getting to Master, sure a discount on Faction wooo, and a whole extra 5% to the range of slicing effectiveness big buzz.Alarge proportionof smugglers are Master pistoleers who have taken the Smuggler Dirty Fighting tree to give themselves an edge. BH's suffer the same fate, there is no reason to Master.

Every profession should have some clear distinctions, some clear undeniable desirable bonus for Mastery.

Now I think I should stop here before I head off on atreatise about the falseassumptions of "balance"and how the mind set of so many players is inherently flawed when it comes to this and Professions.

Hopefully someone out there may agree with me

Argh, I cut and pasted the top of my post away :/

This should have been at the beginning:

"I agree with several others, not everything for players cities should be in Master, irrelevenat to whether they were originally intended to be a seperate profession themselves. Their inclusion in construction gives that useless tree a reason to be. Town halls, however,SHOULD be a Master Architect item.

Dabblers are not the problem..."

and then on to the big rant.

These were structures that one an elite/elite profession was supposed to be able to build. That means that someone would of had to become a Master Architect just to start this other profession.

Do you REALLY want one branch wonders taking away from business that was MEANT to only be yours?

I don't.

Soare house builders not one branch wonders or factory/harvestor makers not one branch wonders?

I personally see no problem someone in a guild taking up architect to help construct what will be considered to be their city. WhatI can'tunderstand is people who are masters thinking they have some divine right togodly status andpower over every other guild who wishes to make a player city, just so that the few masters out there can make a quick and expensive profit on what they make. Yes i know the architect profession has problems but that is our own doing selling houses at less than resource cost. Becoming a master at any profession is not the end game. But what people fail to understand getting to master should not be a race this is not a level base game where getting to the highest level makes you better than anyone else, it is a community game for people to mix-&-match skills. So with urban planner being scrapped and put in one branch of architect allows a community to fend for themselves and build their own city and expand when and how they please. I don't see it as something I would like to make loads of money from, I don't play they game for that and i don't play the game to be bogged down with orders either. So Iapplaud SOE for giving power back to thecommunity and not the masters.

If we want to make our profession something fun and a pleasure to play lets look at things such as diversity in what we make furniture& buildings.Maybe crafting tools to repair houses that become damaged from wind storms or nearby conflict. Or a tool to repair harvestors that are overused that need a qualified architect/engineer to come and mend.

I have seen many pictures and websites of people showing their creative talents with aquariums, pet displays and indoor fountains. These maybe master they maybe novices i don't know, but these are people that inspired me to take up the profession, not to become just a master to rule over all and charge what i please for structures.

For those who is talking about it's being unfair and that construction should be more useful but you forget about some skill lines of other professions. Weapon Crafting Techniques in Weaponsmith, Droid Refinement in Droid Engineer, Cookingin Chef, Tailoring at Tailor, Techniques in Armorsmith and Engineering Techniques in Bio-Engineer. If you'll look at those skill lines you'll see that they have the same meaning as Contruction in Architect, they all add experimentation. So before you'll put another argument about construction being useless and that it should get town structures in it - check other crafters skills line again.
