And here I thought was just me (critical failures on armour tho). Since last small patch I think all crafters have seen a rise in critical failures.

My whole PA has noticed a strange ripple in the force when it comes to crafting with new high end tools. Im not sure about the bug thing but i have a theory that may or may not be possible. LAG!


I wonder if somehow lag is affecting data by corruption or fragmenting it and screwing with the random number generator? In other words putting an unusually high value in the difficulty slot and causeing crits and failures?


In my experience over the last few days I have noticed it affects experimentation as well. I get MANY more moderate to failure experiments on trivial difficulty items since getting rid of my old tools and station and changeing to the high quality ones.


This theory may not even be possible . I dont know exactly how the mechanics of the game sends and receieves data or which end the random number generator is on.

I have my 43 crafting station on one end of the house and the 2 crafting station on the other side. I have not critical failed at all on the 2 crafting station and I crtitical failed 3 out of 9 times (med houses, large houses, and heavy harvs) on the 43. I think it has something to do with crafting staitons and how far they deviate from 0. I think the closer they are to zero the less chance their is of a critical failure. I also have rarely critical failed as a WS with my 43 general crafting station. I really think only architects are effected.

"Use the macro" - I used to use the macro until they removed it's usefulness last big patch. Now the macro crit fails just like you will without it - I stopped using it soon after the patch after I started crit failing again. Unless they stealth-removed the nerf-that-wasn't-really-a-nerf ?


Anyways I got hit with the crit fail bad luck this weekend. Not working anything serious, only structure mods, but I got a crit on 5 out of 7 attempts. The only difference I noticed was that I hadn't checked the OQ on my stuff (since it doesn't matter for architect?) and I was using OQ 64 copper. Switched to something a little more average OQ 700 steel and things seemed to go back to normal. Does resource OQ affect crit fails?

Well Im a weaponsmith also and its affecting my weaponcrafting as well. Im not so sure its only a CS problem. I think the tools have something to do with it as well . I noticed the difference just by changeing tools NOT the station.

Took me 8 tries to make 4 deep crust chems the other night. I, like a lot of other architects, feel that my success rate seems to have gone DOWN as a master. I was one who ran the Installations tree first, then buildings through 3, then construction(after the experimentation option became avail), and finally furniture. I've been building heavies for a while tho, and I've gone from crit fails being a rarity to them being a regular occurance. Yes, I have improved my tools and station over the course of this, so its tough to pinpoint it at this point, but it sure seems to me that there's a bug somewhere here.
