Thread: what's the most stupid thing you've done as an architect ?
Runner up:
Fat fingered and put 7500 energy in a personal chem harvester (instead of 750) when I really only needed the thing to run for a day. Now it's set for 10 days. That also ate up most of my power, which meantI had to pull up two medium mineral harvesters cause I couldn't run them. The next day, after I got a bit more power from my solar, I placed a medium elsewhere and dumped 3 days power into it as intended. Did a status and noticed the thing had 2 days power in it already (left over)! If I'd looked first, I could have put up another harvester.
Winner:
I really wanted a food factory to make some stims for a medic friend. But I only had just enough ore to make one. Unfortunately I failed on the second wall module! Aargh. Ok, so I ran around sending tells to every architect I could find, seeing if anyone could make me a wall. On Gorath we've had no good source of ore for 2 weeks, so everyone is short.
I finally find someone, so I run 2.5k out of town to their house and wait for them to get back from harvesters and make me a wall. It's late of course, and I'm supposed to be in bed cause I have to work the next day, but I really wanted to get taht factory churning on the large #s of supplies I need.
Anyway, in the end I get the wall, make the factory, set it up and go to bed. Additional time lost because of failed wall: 1 hour+
The next day I get back home to my house and look inone of my backpack stoarge units and what do I find? 2500 ore I'd forgotten I had! DOH.
Two things I can remember:
1) Put a medium house deed on my vendor for 10000 credits. (thanks a bunch for the unreadable inventory icons, I thought it was a Deed for M... ineral Mining Installation). Needless to say, it sold pretty quickly ![]()
2) Picked up my factory the other day with 12 Power Core Units in it.
Well, I had a customer travel to me from endor to pick up a PA hall that I crit failed on as he walked through the door.. it tok me 2 days to make it up and he didnt have enough money to travel back to endor and then back to rori when it was done so he had to wait 2 days for me..
Then there was the time I made a nice schematic of a large house..
Then a few days later I made a large generic for a customer that wanted a large naboo.. didnt notice it unitl he got to my vendor while I was offline and emailed me telling me it was not there..
Other than accidentally dumping a harvesters hopper with 10k ore in it back when I was a fledgling novice, those are the worst..
after working all day at a horrible job, i come
home looking forward to my first level up since becoming
a novice architect, and somehow i end up with Construction I instead of what i wanted, Buildings I.
oh well. here comes another two days of grinding, provided i can come up with the resources.
what are all of your stupid mistakes ?
The day I made novice architect I was so excited...I made my first small house (for me of course) and as I was doing the final combine I lost connection to SWG (back when this happened all the time) when I logged back on the deed was gone as well as the resources/components I used (although several days later half of the struc mods showed up in my pack for some reason)...but here's the stupid part...after much angriness at SWG over the loss of my first house I proceeded to make another. Final Combine over...YAY! first house. Then while placing I was met with some unfortunate lag and deleted it on accident =( (again this was back when there was no "practice" and you had to delete stuff after grinding so I had the delete "are you sure?" turned off)
So here's the other one...I just grinded up to DE the other day (I must have a fetish for broken professions because I'm also a merchant) and when I was done I needed to make some furniture to fill my vendor with. Well, I "practiced" on about 50k worth of furniture before I noticed that my inventory wasn't full yet...

edit: i just finished reading the rest and realized how bad it can be, worse than practicing on a med house, especially building the wrong PA hall.
i wonder if anyone has "practiced" on a PA hall...
Bought a small house off someone for 3000, nice deal as they just wanted to unload it.
Thought hey let's put this on my vender for 10,000. Make a bit of profit.
Mistake one, thinking I was awake. Mistake two not going to sleep. Mistake three leaving out a "0" in the sell price.
Now someone came by and got a small house for.......1000.
Egg on my face? Priceless
Mine is similar to the last one. I put a small house on my vendor or the bazaar (not sure) for 750. Must have meant to put up a personal harvestor deed. Didn't notice until I got the mail saying it had sold.
Definitely destroyingproducts or a big stash of materials as a trainee artisan - the 'confirm' destroy option has never been off since. Also, travelling miles to buy something and then leaving town without collecting it.
As for the stories above, I've come soooooo close to doing just about every one of them that it's making me nervous just reading them ![]()
Skarra, Master Architect
I started off paying credits and power on harvesters that didnt require it (just after launch)
I didnt build any large homes or large harvesters until after I made Master Architect.
I gave away so many of my own personal harvesters that I didnt have enough to keep myself in business (never mess with your own supply, let them wait)
My biggest mistake was not logging in for 2 days thinking everything would be fine....only to find out that the servers were rolled back to just before I had paid maintenance on my harvesters and ended up losing close to 20 medium mineral harvesters (PA members donated quite a few lots)
