Thread: Round, yellow couch?
Here are my observations with that couch...
I have 2 in my house that I made. I can move them around just fine.
I made 2 for somebody on Correllia. She dropped them and could target and move them fine.
I made 2 for a guildmate. He placed them in his house and could not target them. He added me as an admin on his house and I was able to target and move them around to where he wanted them. After that was done, he still could not target them. Heh, he said that he might as well put a sign above them saying that they were reserved for me. ![]()
I have never had that problem nor have any of the half a dozen couchs I have sold had that problem.
I have one in my showroom that my vendor stands in front off, which reminds me that I need to make more today since I am sold out.
On Tarquinas, his name is Medlee and his house is next to mine. (Loc of my house is in my sig.) Stop by and take a look if you're bored. It's pretty funny.
I have had problems moving large couches after dropping them, so it's certainly not an isolated incident. This is a honking big piece of furniture and it's pretty distressing when you drop something this large and cant move it, rotate it, or even target it or pick it up.
Here's a work-around that sometimes helps... I havefound that a friend placed on my admin list for the house can move it... Although another on the same admin list could not...
...picking it up however doesn't work since in their infinite wisdom SOE has decided to disallow people who have been placed as house administrators any access to drop or remove items, which is absurd. The whole point of having an admin list is to give other players permissions to use the house resource as you yourself do, a co-admin should have the right to everything short of re-deeding and destroying the place.
Anyway, use large couches with caution.
YES Thank you Thank you it worked - GO near the Couch and try
" /pickup round couch " and IT picked up both of mine - O FINALLY - FINALLY.
This has been brought up before, I dont remember the thread, but the basics if it are this....
This particular couch has a small white base. Some players can target and sit, some players can target and not sit, and some players can't target or sit (I'm one of the latter).
In my case, the couch, when placed does not show the white base around the bottom, it's this white base that is the "target" point for the couch. Since it can't be seen, I Therefore, can't target the couch... It's like the insertion point of the couch is set too low.
In theory (I havent tried this) if you have stairs in your house, step up on the lower portion of the stairs... the bottom step should work, just as long as you are a bit elevated, and drop the couch. Then you should be able to see the small white base, and target it/move/rotate/sit.
If all else fails, give someone admin to your house, and get them to either pick it up or move it to where you want it.
The commands "/pickup couch" "/rotatecouch" also work sometimes... you just have to make sure the couch name is correct, thats how I placed mine....still cant sit on it though ![]()
/pickup <name of couch> does work... However, after working with a very friendly CSR on Sunday we established /rotate <name of couch> left 90 or any other command of that nature does not work.. it simply tells me the format is /movefurniture <forward/back> <#> and doing /move<name of couch> just tells me there is no such command etc as /movecouch.
There is a work around that's in several posts in the tech section of the boards.... but unfortunately I'm not one of the people that can use it. Before logging in when you first click on your swg icon you can select options and check a box in the video card. I can't recall the name of it atm, but I'm sure you can find a post in the tech section of these boards.
When I put up my new house (one that will have stairs) I will definately test out the white base theory. I mayeven try it outusing one of the houses I have admin access to (I do decorating jobs)Oh, and that's an adorable idea about using the couches to make a circle with the glass table in the center. Crossing my fingers and hoping my next video card I plan on getting on or by xmas will allow meto use the work around.
