I won't bother crafting to sell for less than the resources themselves would sell for. So mid-range resources are 3cpu, so I'll craft all inorganic lights for 6cpu, and since mid-range organics cost twice that, then I price likewise at 12cpu. If it takes high-quality resources to get saleable stats, then prices go up like resource prices do. I round up to the nearest 100 and increase a little based on value to the user. I do well with fair prices but must be paid for my time and trouble after resources or I won't keep doing it. So for mid-line quality:

  • Candles = 700

  • Desk Lamp= 500

  • Free-Standing Lamp = 900

So just a question on your pricing. How many candle would it take to buy One set of buffs that last about 3 hours?

Answer this before you set your price allright

When I can start using candle wax as protection against wounds I will start worrying about the price comparison. Until then I will wonder why a gallon of beer costs more than 10 times that of a gallon of petrol even though it is 99% water and the only place it helps me get to quicker is the toilet

I opened a shop selling only Candles and Lights.

Candles - 500

Desk-Top Lamps - 750

Free-Standing Lamps - 1000

10% discount for crate of 10.

Candles are 14-15 days and lights are 35-36 days.

Using better resources on them seems a waste in my opinion.

Does the timer start when you place the candle/lamp or when you make it?

I only made enough for my showroom, to start with. Just wondering if these are even worth putting on a vendor. If the timer starts when you craft it these items are worthless.

I had a few crates that I made as special order.

Once they were in my backpack I noticed their timers ticking. The guy wasn't on to pick them up so I put them into my vendor where their timers froze. So I guess there fine on the vendor.

So far, it appears that decay freezes once the item is on a vendor.

When I craft individulas, they don't decay in my inventory, and they go right to the vendor with no decay.

Crates decay in my inventory and in the hopper. I heard someone say that this decay only applies to one item in the crate, and the rest are undecayed.

We just need an on/off switch. No decay until the object is turned "on."

i get like 39 days on lamps and 16 on candles

as for price i have just been selling them at cost to the guild which i jsut guess 3 cpu even though i am using 10 cpu resources lol...and i think that 2.5 or 1.5 k on them is a good deal since you use like 100 resources and to get 16-39 days on the respective items you have to use uber resources...

I only sell lighting in crates of 5, firstly to avoid decay but also to make the sale worthwhile.

Candles @ 5 for 3000.

Table/desk lamps @ 5 for 4000.

Freestanding @ 5 for 5000.

I always charge a good rate for furniture, and it scares me the number of architects who are willing to prostitute their art in order to make a quick sale. There are several factors to consider when selling furniture :

1 - Chances are it'll be the last [insert furniture item name] a customer buys, as they last forever.

2 - Even charging 10cpu the price for any item of furniture is very small.

3 - Customers have no clue as to what goes into making furniture.

By charging a rate I can exist on for furniture (despite being master, I have only ever made one heavy harvester - for myself, furniture is my living) I am able to offer a superior service to my regular clients, throwing in freebies occaisionally, offering a free naming service, credit, decorating help and so forth. My 5 most loyal customers have all accused me of forcing them to become addicted as they have had to buy additional houses in order to store their purchases.

See each sale as your last, and price accordingly.

I charge 2k for candles and 4k for lamps. candles are 15-20 day and lamps are 40-41 days. You might say I am price gouging, but I get bought out in 20 minutes, not only that but these take a lot of organic resources and only get a high experimented candle with really good resources. With Rofid I can get over a 20 day candle. i make low candles and put them for 500-1k and my higher ones get sold. I think that we should let the customers decide what is best for them. Please remember that all servers are different as well as its economy. Having someone from a diferent server send me a tell saying that he is lower than me and does well I laugh at. Of course you are going to make money selling things cheap. I have made multi credits selling my torches at 1k adn crates for 10k each. If thats gouging fine but there are people who sell lower and higher. What is important is what the price is acceptable for the architect so they can stay in business. If someone buys all of your torches, lamps and candles (which has happened to me numerous times) are you able to restock in 5-10 minutes or less for the next customer. If your answer is no, then your an outlet which is cool and many architects with busy stores use your stores to help them restock and make profit. I think it is silly for us to yell at each other and call us price hikers. All of us architects need to stick toegther. I am friends with many architects with my server because if I need a power core for a order and cannot wait I cannot go to a bio egineer for it. Do what you need to do to enjoy this game and to let your business survive. Believe me no matter what your prices are you will get customers. I know people who charge 300k for a large house lol and they get as many customers as those who charge 80k for a large house. Although I am in the middle price range, it shouldn't matter whether you are a Gucci or a Target store as long as you advertise your product, and produce you will have customers. Just a thought.

this is my pricing structure as well. And since I dont need the money this is the way it will stay. People need to learn econmoics. Sell a lamp that lasts 40 days for 500 and you are selling that persona YEARS worth of light for around 3500 credits. That means he wont have to buy another lamp from you for a YEAR! Til the year 2005. Do you understand that? Architects finally get a source of revolving income and they shoot themselves in the foot with it.

STOP PRICING YOUR FURNITURE THE SAME WAY YOU PRICE YOUR INSTALATIONS!! You don't have to be the XCPU Architect when selling furniture! You sell it based on how long it will last your customer. If you sell your customer something that will last them over a year for less than 5k you are just asking your customer to go away and never come back. Take your queue from the weaponsmiths and armorsmiths on this one people. Stop selling yourself, and the whole architect community, short.
