Thread: Why I like architect

Let me just re-iterate Pawlin's reasons. They are a perfect description of why I like being an arch. with the possible exception of my preferring the "accountant" title. Nothing says boring like Accountant. NOBODY every bothers me if I have that title up. I can sit and deal with all the Mayor email spam I have to handle every day with almost no interruptions. Once I turn on the Master Arch title....BINGO! incoming /tells.

  1. I can point to a player city's City hall and say /smuggly "I made that"
  2. I can drop 2M on ore and still need more.
  3. I built my own house and all the furniture in it.
  4. My factory is bigger than your factory.
  5. I consider deleting3k ofgas because its 'scraps'.
  6. All of our products have some sort of use, either functional or decorative.
  7. We an make paintings.
  8. You can'tstart a guild without the guild halls we make. Similarly, you can't make a city without the buildings we make.
  9. You can grind your way up architect making something useful.
  10. Because we can make useful, sellable items as novices the climb to master wasn't a wrist cramping, mind numbing grind session.
  11. The title 'Accountant'.
  12. We are notheavily dependent on other professions.

I can empathize with this - I probably have enough high-quality steel and ore to make about 5000 harvesters at the moment, and I *know* that I will never make that many. But it's so nice to look at the list and know that I've got whatever I need. (I think it's like Scarlett O'Hara proclaiming "as God is my witness, I'll never grub for turnips again" (or something like that)).

Architect loves

1. Being able to post on the trade forums will buy all ore on server for 4 CPU. I need at least 40 million units by thursday.... and still needing more.

2. Running 200+ harvesters having a bunch of employees running an additional harvesters for you, and spending 20 million credits on ore, and still needing more.

3. Knowing every single resource vendor on your server and buying them all out and still needing more ore.

4. Doing 1-3 and buying wall moduels from a dozen different hologrinders at the same time and still needing more walls.

5. Getting orders for 20, 40, 50 million credits.

6.Trying to figure out how you are gonna fill orders for 200 heavy harvesters.

7. Borrowing factories from oither architects in order to fill huge orders.

8. having the capability to harvest more than a million units of resources every day.

9. Knowing that your weekly harvester maintenance is more than most people on the server have to their name.

10.The fact that because of simple luck you harvest 7,000,000 of the best Kiiriium Steel to ever grace the server, and the biggest Armorsmith on the server couldnt get more than 1,000,000 units. and you didnt even need to move a harvester.

badness:

1 The fact that those 7,000,000 units of Kiiriium Steel are worth more than every harvester I ever made. Ok Maybe not, but that combined with the other server best resources I have in the millions, yes it is, and by alot.

2. Hand sampling for the resources needed to get the skills to make personal harvesters so I wouldnt have to hand sample anymore only to find that hand sampling was much faster and that I couldnt sell anythingso couldnt affort to keep my new personal harvesters running all the time.

3.some idiot asking meabout some piece of furniture that an architect made with a custom name while I am in the middle of trying to throw togetherthe order for 200+ heavy harvesters.

4 feeding harvesters more in a week than most SWG players see in a year

Rather than repeat what others have said (and better), the things I like are:

- having a *huge* variety in the set of things that I can craft - from furniture through harvesters through large structures

- having a variety of challenges in making the different things (e.g., the focus on high-quality resources and production planning for top-rated heavy harvesters vs. just "throwing together" some houses)

- both of those varieties allow me to structure both my business and my time in the game on what I feel like at the moment - ranging from hand-crafting some furniture with custom labels to laying out a plan to produce 50 BER13 harvesters in a run

- I like "consulting" with people and find lots of opportunities for doing that with architect, ranging from bouncing around decorating ideas to helping someone plan their harvester fleet expansion

How do you get the Accountant title? That sounds like a good one.

Woops...not an arch title. It is a politician title for getting Fiscal Policy 4.

of course there is the title Warmaster for a politician as well. Though I cannot for the life of me figure out how a politician can be a war master.

How sad is it that I went home and checked, and was disappointed I didn't have Accountant.

Have you started calling that iron "my precious"? If so then I think we'll need to get you some counselling.

... but then again, 1000 UT is pretty nice. Let Pawlin see the iron? Let Pawlin haves it.
