What they need to do is nerf mediums, cap them at aobut 8 BER

What is the norm for an experimented heavy anyways? 13? 14?

Just curious, and I'm about to upgrade from my 11 BER 9 mediums.

13 for heavies. I actually resorted to making a schematic to avoid the crit fails on experimentation. Fusion-ion generators go up to BER 14 now, but that in my opinion is a tad too low.

I don't know about 7 ber for mediums, 8 or maybe 9 i think would be better, bring it up flush with the low end heavies.

although i think q3po said something about wanting high quality of one type being better than low quality of the next step up

maybe they should make personals with 5 ber, that'd work for me

of course, this coming from a guy who probably won't make anything with my architect skills, just dump them and move onto the next profession.

I completely agree, mediums need to be taken down a notch or two. Back in my day owning a heavy actually meant something.

As for prices, I now buy my harvies from Boni as he is one of the few on Rori that keeps a good selection of high end mediums AND his prices are right on target in my opinion.

Alright, a compromise...

Why not knock that back to 4->8 and have heavies go from 8->12?

So we'd have...
1->4 personal
4->8 medium
8->12 heavy

I think those are reasonable numbers. Yes, heavies are taken down a notch, and mediums lose 2 notches.

On a side note, I like the idea of having maintenance costs rise in relation to the BER.. BUT... still make it so that mediums are more cost effective than personals and heavies are the true mining monsters (most cost effective but very expensive to buy). If done properly a BER 12 heavy could still be sold since it would (presumably) cost less to buy and maintain than a BER 13. As it stands now nobody in their right mind would pay for a failed 13 resulting in a BER 10 heavy as you pay the same maintenance as a BER 13 heavy but mine the same as a well experimented medium.

I think something like this was attempted a while back but I believe the logic in the code was flawed so that the higher BER extractors actually made it less cost effective to run. Not sure why there is an overlap as it stands now, to me it just doesn't make sense.

I could easily be wrong, as I'm still fairly new to this, but what is lot usage per harvestor? If they all use the same lot spacing, then it makes sense that the increase in costs per unit goes up faster than the increase in in unit per BER (if that makes sense.) Let's assume for the moment, everyone is still limited to 10 lots. That being the case, even with a slightly higher overhead, it's still better to have that extra little bit from the heavy than the medium.

That aside, what do I know, I'm still mostly a newb

All harvesters take one lot, regardless of size.

And agree wholeheartedly about the medium/heavy harvester disparity - mediums are too"efficient" to make heavies an attractive alternative to mostpeople. Currently it makes far more sense just to trade or rent lots to make up the "shortfall" in most cases.

there are still pre-nerfed fusion and heavies. I'm using 2 fusions with a recovery rate of 20. they are hard to come by but well worth their price.

This is really a non-issue guys.

Heavies hold twice as much, and most *real* ore/mineral vendors don't coddle their harvs. They set them down, and go have fun for a week.

The 65k-med, and 200-225k heavy are well worth their prices, and sell through all the time.

If you're having a hard time selling yours, goto the trades area for your server and make a post. I sold 10 BER12 heavies for 120k each due to it
