Bah - fact is i need low grade... and a heavy butt load of it. No amount of "lucky shift" helps me unless another/more % low grade ore comes to where they are sitting. Which hasn't happened in my history. Not saying it doesn't happen... just hasn't happened to me. <sigh> wish i could even get enough low grade to make a couple of mediums for clan members who want them.

<shrug> I persevere.

As for price fixing. Selling my smalls for 15k... It would cost someone that extra five K to go back to tat or somewhere else to buy one at 10k... either way... i figure just the amount of low grade ore required in the making of a small house. (not the metal or anything else... JUST the low grade ore) at 3cr/unit = a lil over 10k. So when i see people selling at 10k for smalls... they are taking a loss. If i didn't mine my own stuff, it would cost me 3cr a unit if i was lucky... a lot of people are charging more than that now. You'd say mining means that my materials are worth less than someone who is mining and selling it?

Never mind that harv runs and resource shifts are never expected... and i don't get so much as an email from my harv telling me that it is no longer mining said resource as it no longer exists. (but my factories tell me when they are done, or if there is something wrong (not enough bits) Maintenance has gone up on any harv worth running. (Penalized for making your harv more efficient???? seems odd) Oh and pesky power... always need to keep a couple of worthless slots open to get power to be able to operate those same harvs.

Then add in that all things architect use WAY more bits than any other profession's craftables. (as far as i know - i have experience with med/weapon/arch/artisan/tailor) so in a lot of instances ... a gun that they can make MORE of per lots of resource are costing the same as houses in some instances... rofl. (guess i need to really grind out WS... heh)

All that said - i'm not much of a sales man - but even if i was.... i'd never have what people want as of yet... because i can't get enough materials to make em. =) ... People keep asking me for med houses in clan... and i'm like - you'd better go buy some low grade ore then... cause i don't have enough to throw down for the 5 walls... heh, wanna really peeve people - make them get the recourses to make thier gear... then maybe they would appreciate more what arch does. =0

bah - i'm meandering... all take care - i'm still in game - still find reason's to spend time in front of it. =) Guess i'm not that irritated. -=)

I'ma guild architect, but my guild didnt make me (i.e feed me resources, lots, etc.) what my guild did provide me was a master architect that showed me the ropes, trained me, pawned his low level grind work off on me so I could gain skill and get paid at the same time. Our guild mates come to us first for our services, and we discount them a decent percentage. As for price fixing, yes I do it. Not to some list I found on the forum. I get with the other architects in my guild and we come up with a price that is reasonable for our labor that allows us to be profitable, yet generate business. But, I draw the line at some things, Small houses for less than 10K. Unless it is and extra thrown into a 120K+ harvester order, or a favor for a struggling guild mate. Sorry, Small houses cost 10K. Why you ask?Cause I can put those same resources on the bazzaar in anchorhead at 3 cr/u and make 10K after bazaar fees and dont have to do crap. Dont have to hear the " I can go get it elsewhere cheaper!", "Ouch, nvm" whatever reason you dont wanna pay my price crap.

and Bazaar sells dont have critical failures. The 3cr/u price is way below the bazaar standard price for raw resources. So it sells quick.

Ieven had people offer me resources to get my price lower. I'm a pro miner running20+ harvesters at times. I keep 700K of resources on hand. I dont want your resources because I'm not able to choose the quality or the price of which they would cost me, Mining myself I can control these factors. I sell my goods for more than what I can sell the raw resources for. Period. Why sell them for less? I could be a Master Commando and actually be able to kill something and make just as much money selling resources. Why sell a house for less than 10K. Only reasons that make any sense at all are:

1.) Holo grinding - dumping finished good on the market to recover some expenses.

2.) Starving Architect - a fresh up and coming architect with out enough skills to make profitable items

(if you fit in catagory 2 send me an email in game)

3.) Doing a Favor - aka suppling you RL friend, guild mates, etc.)

4.) Dumb - working way to hard for way to little

I think none of you get the finger on the problem node ... even if some are close ...

The problem I see is time and greed !

You see the profession on the side of a master that has been there for a long time, you got your customer base, your stocks of ressources, your heavy harvesters running and bringing you all the ressources you need. You sell small house at 15k, factory at 50k, large house at ... don't really want to know how much ...

Now I set myself in the other seat, novice architect(I know my friend being doing that lately) ...

You make a small house from the ressource you gathered and you can :

_ sell it and get the money to pay the harvesters and keep getting ressources to keep skilling

_ don't sell it and go bankrupt

So you can put a high price, set the deed in a vendor and pray for someone will by luck stumble upon your shop and that it will be one of the 10% people that don't care about money and buy an over priced house... It can take days or weeks before such a nice guy came.

Or you put it for sale for a low price and wait for just someone interested in a house to come to your shop (yeah that's 90 more % of teh people coming to your shop are ready to pay the price you ask)

Then you make an other and an other and an other ... while tenth of others architects on the same planet do the same ...

On thecustomer side the choice is easy ... why pay more for same goods ?

They go for the cheapest and by fear of not selling the master architect lower their prices(not a lot as I see you still sell small house at 10k or 15k while we sell then for 7k

And at 7k we still make benefits ... but you could argue that we would do more benefits selling ressources at the bazaar for 3c/unit ... but

_ some architectare not architect to make money but because they wanted to be architect

_ selling ressoruces to bazaar brings 0 structure XP

_ making wall for other master architect, even if it sounds great, is killing the fun of being an architect (what's the pleasure of selling a wall to a master architect vendor compared to the pleasure you feel on a customer comment after you made him a house ?)

Now once an architect hits master he don't need the XP and the only thing he is looking for is either :

_ making architect stuff

_ making money

The first will increase his prices a bit and start a cruising speed, delivering good quality stuff at decent price and being happy with it.

The second will increase his pricea lot and start a cruising speed, delivering good quality stuff at overmarket price and being unhappy because he could make a lot money if the architect doing his job for the pleasure to do it is preventing him to charge even more or to sell more

Because the profit is constant, the higher you sell the less you sell, making it so that you gain the same with less work. But evening the benefits on all master architect, no matter how high their price is.

If you have 5 persons looking for a medium mineral, you will get 4 buying from the little shop with the guy selling them at 15k (making 5k benefits on each for a total of 20k) and 1 will buy the harvester from the guy selling them at 30k (making the 20k benefits on one sale). And who will be happy ? The first architect (happy to sell) and the 4 customers that bough cheap harvesters (feeling of having made a good deal) ... the customer that paid twice the price will feel raped (think that word will get edited) and the second architect will feel more unhappy because without the first one he could have sold 5 harvester at 50k/each and made an insane amount of money (and making 5 customers unhappy .. but that don't seems to matter a lot to him)

Now you can beg the first architect to change his prices ... you will NEVER get the novice architect skilling to change his prices because he can't wait to get a customer base to sell and get the money to skill as architect is the only profession where you can skill and make money (not a lot as you need to sell cheap) at the same time (I know I've made 10000000 barrels at lost to get to master WS and be able to make a weapon someone would buy )

From start ofSWGto last big patch i was selling harvesters for flat price. Personal mineral = 750, Medium Mineral = 10k, Heavy Mineral 120k (based on cpu). Last 2 weeks i found these prices wont work anymore. Why?

You can have Medium Mineral and Heavy Mineral with rate 9, coz rates overlaps rite now. So i changed my pricing according to this overlaping rates. Here is my new price list which i use now.Itsbased on rates not resources ...

Medium -rate 6-9 : 10k,25k,50k,75k

Heavy - rate 8-13: 45k,65k,85k,105k,130k,155k

As you can see Medium rate 9 will cost you 75k and Heavy on same rate 9 will cost you 65k, which is rite i think. Using this schema u can make prices for every types.

What you think guys and galz?

It is so simple, charge less than they expect to pay and you have a customer for life. They will buy everything from you. This would work better if we had decay, but it has worked for me as it is.

You guys are free to price however you want too, and so am I.

figure out how much you pay for resources, add 25% to the individual unit cost. Then use that number to figure out all the costs for your components and structures. Call that number your cost. Add 10% to cover assembly and critical failures and thats your wholesale price. Add another 10% and thats your retail cost. You now have a pricing range you can work with. You can haggle a bit with a client, they'll feel they're getting a better price and you'll still be making a profit. Also you can offer the wholesale cost to repeat or bulk customers.

The only change in pricing i've considered applying is a higher rate for maxed out harvestors. Heavies with a rate of 13 are a pain to make, so maybe another 10k on the price. Or since the base rate on a heavy is 10 charge 10k per BER, so a base rate heavy mineral is 100k while a ber 13 is 130k.

The fact is, if you set a price comparable to the street market price and stick to it...you'll get your price.

I had a person ask me for a guild hall quote and I quoted him for 350k. He said, "oh no, I only have 300k....can you please sell it to me for 300k now?" I stuck with my guns and said my price was firm, and 10 minutes later he was ready to pay 350k for it.

Exactly, works the other way too, I had a guy say he wanted a Town hall and would pay 500k, I told him I would sell it for 325K if he ordered the other civic buildings from me also.

He agreed imedeatly, I have now collected well over 1 mil from this guy.

Sounds like you did your job just by magic and take no resources, no time to make them.

At the customer's point of view, I am now offering 500k for a city hall and i will be very happy to take one from an architect selling for even 425k...and SURE I will buy the other civic buildings from the architect too if i really NEED THEM why not?

BUT how come u drop the price so low at 325k??? when his first offer is 500k?? (Actually i stick my price at 700k and luckily I sold 4)

I know you got millions of credits and u think u are so successful, BUT i just wanna tell you, I got 1 account 10 lots and mastered architect for just 2 months and I got 28 millions now, so the point is, as an architect, you're just making MONEY but not PROFIT.

I pull all my own resources at .3 to .4 cr a unit, since it takes weeks to grow he didnt mind waiting a couple of days for me to deliver the other buildings.

Yes I am very sucuessfull doing it my way, not only did I get the civic buildings orderd from this guy but now he has asked for 2 large houses and 4 med houses for his PA.

You have to look beyond the one sale and into the many sales in the future.

I know thereare other ways to do it, but I know the way I am doing it also works

Hold it. so the millions upon millions and growing in my account is just money, not profit. Wow, so the same number of credits in your account is different those credits in my account.

I will have to write that down, that is brilliant! That is likely one of the most clueless thing I have ever heard.

LOL yeah that was fun ...

even if I think I know what he means : money is what you would get selling the ressources, profit is the added value to transform the ressources into a building.Maybe yes, maybe not
