Architect Archive
Thread: This has got to be the stupidest part of Architecture.
Failed on a Large house before. I put every resource i had into that house, and i was broke. That sale would have kept my harvesters running a few more days. As it turned out, i borrowd cash from my friends just to stay afloat. Here's what bugs me about the failures....
Large House Resource requirements:
9900 Metal
27020 Low Grade Ore
225 Steel
600 Non-Ferrous Metal
530 Carbonite Ore
50 Chemical
500 Aluminum
200 Reactive Gas
Grand Total of 39025 resource units. Thats a lot. If i screw up on the side molding of a Doorframe, the entier house isnt lost. Maybe i need to replace some metal or whatever, but come on. Nuke the whole house?
AND ANother thing....
If i find myself failing on structure modules, i make myself some fresh Crafting tools, and i dont fail again for a LONG time. Why is that? Is there some condition with crafting tools that we arent seeing? If my tools are running out WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IT. I Sure as heck dont want to try and craft a PA hall with a dead tool. But there are NO stats for any tools, or crafting stations. we have NO idea what does what without guessing. That is bad. Very bad.

"I know every one is having this problem"
I swear I am not having this problem. I still can't figure out why. I have built numerous heavy harvester, factories, and other things that require large resources and the wort final assembly failure I've had to date was a small house. Frankly, I rarely fail on final assemblies at all and seem not to be failingnearly as much as it seems many of you are. All I can tell youfor sure is that my tools and crafting stationsare fully experimented to99% experimental effectiveness. My personal crafting stations have all the optional components in them. I truly don't know if that is what is making my experience better but that's what I am using and don't seem to have the same problems.
Perhaps we ought to start tracking what servers thatpeople are experiencing abnormally high critical failures on. What planets these people are on? What times of days you normally play? What kind of equipment quality are we talking about? What kind of materials quality are we talking about ? There must be some sort of pattern we can point out to the devs to narrow this plague down for them to fix.
I use 99 tools and 99 crafted stations with optional components.
I still fail as much as I did with a crappy crafting station. I use extremely good ore for the final assembly also.
It's more or less random, with a small modifier for the tools and materials. If your having a bad day (I failed on 3 mediums Sunday) .. your gonna get screwed.. doesn't matter what you do to try and prevent it.
Don't give me that wrong race horse **edit**.
It shouldn't matter. There was nothing on the character creation that said only the fish face can be architects.
The real screwing we get is no bonus to structure assembly for the construction line (making it completely worthless). That would even things out at master, regardless of race, like it should be.
The fish face bonus should only apply to non-masters (since the assembly skill would be < 100)
I completely agree with Aeko.. he has it right on the dot.. and trust me, Im on the same server as he.. and he's got his stuff down....
Its all random.. and I dont care about being a fish or not, it doesnt help.. Im a really fat wookie.. but I still get stuff made with maybe even less crit. fails than a lot of u..

Creadux,
I've gone days without even a single failure on a mundane item. And I've had really bad days. Before this week (taking a break from building and just shooting things) I build a lot of stuff. I mean a really lot. Out of about 30 PA halls, I failed on only one. That's good. There's where I've got lucky.
However I've had some downright awful days (like Sunday) .. where the luck just wasn't with me. That's why it is random. You just have to build a *lot* of stuff to see it. There's no perfect combination, your just lucky.
Oops hit submit post too soon on that last one..
I do actually believe that crafting tools quality, and material qualities play a small part.. however not as much as people believe they do.
