Thread: Overall pricing guide
Yup, seen that business model aswell Saikai. I'm not saying it's wrong, it is what works for you, and yes you will make a profit out of it since the 'cost of pulling resources out of the ground is something like 0.25/0.3 cpr,
I actually harvest about half my materials and buy the rest, I can't collect enough with my own network of harvesters to supply the demand.
If I am going to pull resources out of the ground.. and especially the high quality ones, then I simply don't see the point in wasting my time turning those resources from being a 5, 6, 7 whatever cpr product, into a 3-4 cpr product by spending more of my time to do so.
Just my 2 cents worth.

They are also mad, given that the metal required to make these is currently selling for between 10 and 15 cpr and grind resources are now hitting around 3 cpr.
Most of the 'big' Architects on Scylla don't sell for less that 150 and can be up to 200.
Zam. I should have known you'd chime in on this issue. Look, it has nothing to do with being snall or big time. I bought 8 BER 13 heavies from a guy on Scylla for 125k each. He delivered them in 45 minutes. I sent a few other orders his way and he filled them just as quickly. Either he's doing something really right, or you're doing something really wrong. Buying resources at auction prices on the trade forum is just not good business.
But, charge what you can for things. I'm glad you're able to get185k for them. If you're getting 185k for BER 13 heavies, by all means charge it, but the guy charging 125K for the same thing will continue to get all of my business and that of my city and everyone I know.
The fact of the matter is, you charge what the market will bear. If you're over-priced you'll figure it out and lower. If you're under-priced, you'll learn that as well.
Yea I made a couple of general dumbass quotes in that post when having a bad day at the office... but you should read the post a bit further down the thread.

I've never said that I cannot sell harvesters for 125k and not make a profit. I would make a reasonable profit at those levels, but as you will see from the above quote, I am not prepared to do that, because doing so means I am spending more of my time to take a bunch of resources worth x and turn them into a product worth less than x.
I have still obtained those resources for far less than x (depending on a lot of things, my base cost for something like chems comes in at about 74k, probablyless).
As for buying auctioned goods off the forums, I've only ever won one auction on the forums, it's not where or how I get 99% of my resources.
Am I doing some really wrong, well... no I don't think so. I did sell ber 13s when they first came out for 115-125k but having received 100 orders in the first week and burnt through my entire stockpile of resources that quickly, I had to do something to cope and still be able to deliver timely. That's why I came up with the price structure I have. If I am overpriced why do I still get more orders on my books than I can fill at these prices? So much so I have recently had to team up with another major architect to cope with the demand.
Is your friend doing something really right, obviously in his customers eyes yes, from his immediate competition no, from mypoint of view, it all depends on what he wants out of the profession, presumely he is getting what he wants, just like I am, so yea he's doing something right too. May you continue to get such a great service at fantastic prices from your architect Issac ![]()
