Thread: Some times we forget....

I must admit I do hanker for those more innocent times, when everything was new and fresh, when you had no idea what was over that next hill, down in that valley, across that river.

I still do get a thrill every now and then in game, but they are getting less and less the deeper and deeper you get in game. Newbies are great to be around though the 40 questions can get a bit tiring at times (especially if you have to be somewhere else).

The problem is that we can never go back there. The holo-grind took our innocence, IMO. I'm bitter about that at times.

Totally agree. At some point it was going to happen that people figured out the best way of doing X profession. The hologrind accelerated that greatly. There was now a reason to get to master and drop it almost instantly.

I'm actually hoping the combat balance will do something like this. I never expect it to go back to the way it was. That would require me to basically forget everything about this game and start over. I'm hoping combat will completely change. Maybe at some point the new text placed in the examine window will mean something.

Examines enraged Rancor "instant death"

That means "instant death" for the rancor right?

I try very hard to not push items and tactics on to new people. I could tell anyone in the game which is the fasted to do whatever profession, but I've gotten to the point where I don't think that is a good thing anymore. By far the best times I had in this game where the first few months. Even with all the horrible bugs and crashes I would take that over right now. It was a time before everything new about armor, doc buffs, chef food(well people only knew how badly it was bugged ). The devs made an impossible task for trying to balance the game for the people that had none and the people that had them all. Everything has turned into a POI, and everything outside of POIs has turned into grinding material.

I still love this game and I still love going out on Endor(about the only planet I enjoy anymore), but I guess I just wish there was another planet or section of a planet where the lowest creature is lvl 80, does 800+ dmg and has a random attack dmg(not just kinetic for creatures). Of course I could just not get buffs and take off my armor and corellia would act like that as well. It would be nice to have to use some sort of strategy in certain parts of the wild.

i know exactly what you mean...i just started considering playing again after a long break. i stopped because the game wasn't social anymore for me. I never met anyone new that wasn't some punk kid trying to illict sex from me in the cantina or some powergamer looking to pvp and move on to more. I was trying to get business as an interior decorator but few people even let me get that far..it was like wanna fight...wanna help me fight...or wanna talk dirty....the innocence was lost for me way before grinding. I think I lost it after release
(i had the most fun ever in this game during beta)

but then again i'm kinda a cynical gal so maybe I'm just not trying hard enough

Suprb post Dvnce. I even did as you suggested & went over to Mos Eisley for a bit just to see what was going on & some how it made me think about when I first started. I can't help but wonder if they will go down to similar routes to us though in the way that nothing will seem quite so great after a while. I have to say some of the questions you get asked though really make you think "dear god did I ever think that when I was first starting?" but you know you did think that.

I definatly think I might find my self in Eisley some more lending a hand to some newbies & just seeing whats going on. The whole experience firstly from reading your post & then from going there myself has really made me think about how it is not to know of grinding & so on.

Great eye opener man
