hmm I cant open the .xls at all, says it is password protected
Yeah, it does that when you aren't using "Microsoft Excel". The spreadsheet IS password protected, so people don't go erasing the formulas and such on accident. The only limit that places on the file is that you have to use "Microsoft Excel" to open it up again...
Open Office won't work. Sorry bout that.
It seems to be working for me, but I'd like to have a second, third, etc. opinion.
If you want to protect the sheet to protect the work, code, formulas, and time that you've invested in it, I respect that. I know how much time a nice spreadsheet can be to make and keep up to date. I would just like to respectfully ask that you reconsider keeping the spreadsheet locked. I would love to take a look at how you manage and deal with all the forumlas and code that are needed for such a cool spreadsheet.
The % needed for BER: 10 isn't working because the cell formula is:
IF(K5=1,((13-4-A7/3),0)+IF(K5=2,0,0)+IF(K5=3,0.75,"0")
K5 must be 2 for medium harvs and I guess it was just a typo to put a zero in if k5=2 is true.

This thing is awesome and I verified the crafting station functionality. One thing that does not work is the experimentation required to get a medium BER 10. It always says 0%. The experimentation to reach BER 13 for a heavy is shown correctly though.
That seems odd...
The only way you should get a 0% is if the resources you entered don't have the appropriate stats...
But aside from that, the only way to get a 0% to show up on a medium harvester is in the harvester subcomponent page. You'd need to select medium harvester, and power generator. Since solar gens don't have a special mining component, they don't get calculated.... hence a 0%.
But also, make sure you are using version 1.2a(the latest version).
If this doesn't resolve the problem, please give me a bit more detail to work with.
I'll look into it and see why it's not working.
In the meantime tho, the BER chart on the right should help ya out.
1. I'm not ready to share all the formula details.
2. By keeping the spreadsheet locked, I actually get bug reports.(Yeah, that's you guys).
3. By locking the sheet, it saves me from becoming the "Honorary Spreadsheet Support Guy" for those who screwed things up, or are experimenting.
4. Feedback is important. It lets me know what to improve on, or add that people will use.
5. Suffice it to say that a good 60+% of the entire spreadsheet is hidden from view... it does a lot of hidden tallying and calculations. Lookups are a pain, but luckily I've been able to make that work dynamically. I used to program back in high school/college, so let me say that this spreadsheet is in no way efficiently coded.
Oh yeah... and the issue with medium harvs... I kinda forgot to enter the formula to calculate it. Good eye with the "K5=2" observation... cause that's the reference to medium harvs. The value for the radio buttons for harvester size is stored in cell K5.

Fair enough, you did the work so it's your call

I get bug reports all the time without having my Spreadsheet locked. People that like your spreadsheet will help you out. We really do have a great community here.

Never had an issue with this. Most people realize if they mess with the forumlas and hidden elements, that they are on their own. I've never had anyone contact me with a problem they caused.

I agree 100% here. Feedback is key. Without it you can't improve on what you already have.

I can agree with the pain of Excel here. I've had several challenges to deal with as I've developed my spreadsheet too.
Just so there is no confusion: Thanks for releasing an AWESOME tool!!
The HARVESTER PREDICTION in the spreadsheet IS NOT CORRECT... It was just my first attempt at trying to figure out their formula. So be advised, that it is off...
At least in the recent tests that I ran, my station would predict a BER 13, a good 8% before the actual BER 13 breakpoint. I'm still trying to isolate these formulas, as you can see.
I'll do my best to crack this formula, but I still wanted to put something up there as a generic guideline. So please, don't take this spreadsheet as being "THE WORD OF GOD", cause it's not... Unless you are talking about Crafting Stations, of course... it's dead-on for those.
Maybe you could use the Abbreviations on the page where we enter our resources? It's kinda a pain to scroll back & forth 50 times to enter all the data we need. IT woudl also e nice to be able to rearrange these columns...I get .csv data exports from a resources database that is maintained dailyfor Tempest, and it woudl be awesome to be able to copy & Paste resource stats into the sheet.
Also, any problems finding where any errors might be would be easier to find if those people (not me) who are good at Excel can see and change what they see....![]()
