Yes, and SOE has two possible solutions... I'd be happy with either. Make Merchant free of SP's like politician, or make it possible for Merchants to spawn vendors for other people. There have been several other suggestions involving putting items onto the Merchant's vendor that might work, but a lot of them have issues with the "storeroom" after the time's up. This would require a lot more coding to fix.

Exactly. But it still irks me that the leading vote getter in the wish poll is still the auto-relist option, which is a merchant issue!! I guess that means we've given up on furniture colorization, heh.
WELL these are still Merchant Issues but.. If they impact us it just gives us the right to give our imput..
our top issues are still...
Crating..
Solar /fusion...
Furniture Color
Involvment in GCW

So the question what tools need to be in play to make that happen?? ( alot will emphasis on simplifing how items are managed on the vendor because I think a large reason we dont see alot of TRUE merchants rather than crafter/merchant hybrids is because a TRUE merchant now Is a SLAVE to the vendor and I do not believe that is fun for anyone... )

Oh well, I found out how to cheer myself up about the state of the Architect: go back to EQ1 and read anything about how that game is developing. Especially for enchanters. Makes SWG look like paradise.
But seriously, if merchant is going to be kept as a point-cost class, and both be unique and useful, then the same issues we discussed about artisan quality and trust come into play:
VERY IMPORTANT: The merchant must be able to verify the quality ofthe merchandise he gets. Since s/he may obtain a whole lot at once, this shouldn't be made so tedious as to slow down transactions. /em taps foot impatientlywhile MerchantBoy counts how many units ofore are in the stack, one at a time....
There must be a secureconvenient and quick way to transfer a lot of goods and money at the same time, that will not be subject to the "bank tax" yet not subject to being exploited as a cheezy way to tip someonea large amount of funds without going to the bank.
It must be easier to carry large amounts of merchandise from factory to vendor (the recent increase in inventory to 80 will help).
The 30 day auto-delist needs to be made longer so you don't have to campyour vendors every night, OR there should be an auto-relist button. Actually, just give us the relist button. Also, a checkbox that allows the merchant to place a price on a specific item and allitems with that name change to that price. (has to be a checkbox since no one wants their +5 CA to be sale priced the same as a +1!)
It must be made easierto get Vendors and Merchants together. "Classified Advertising" tabon the Bazaar? Running the ad must cost money, more on the hub planets. Ability to run the ad is restricted by your senority in the Galactic Merchant's guild: i.e. it's linked to the Advertising branch: Novice: no listing--You gotta pound the pavement for suppliers or buy off other merchants/bazaar. Lvl1: Run ad in 1 city That is, you must be in the city the ad was placed in order to see it when checking the bazaar. Lvl2: Ad shows up at any terminal on planet. Lvl 3: Ad shows up anywhere on major planets. Lvl 4 Ad shows up in all cities on all planets.
"Merchant seeking supplier of Swoops. Must be at least 94% experimented. Offering 15K+1k per % over 94%. Need 10."
"Architect seeking sales agent for civic structures! Have wide supply of small gardens @50k ea., email Archi for full price list.
If *I* delist an item and send it to the storeroom, the game does not generate that annoying email!!!!
Put. Commas. In. The. Prices!!!!!!!!!
---------------
I suggest handling the first three issues through the bazaar: Make a specialtab accessable ONLY by master merchants (to make that boxes really worthwhile). The Galactic Merchant's Guild will provide, for a nominal fee of 1%, a customs, brokerage, and storage service. If a merchant and crafter agree on a price/item transfer, the crafter can deliver his items at any time to any city's Bazaar terminal, and list both the prices and buyer. The buyer gets an email that the crafter has delivered. S/he -- and ONLY s/he can then go to that planet and city to pick up the items. Doing so automatically transfers the agreed upon price from the bank account of the merchant to the crafter, plus the 1% fee to the GalacticMerchant's Guild. The buyer and seller do not even have to be online at the same time. The buyer can examine the goods at his/her leisure. Restriction to Master Merchant keeps it from being something everyone could use to get around the 6k limit, since of course, it couldn't be subject to it. (Alternate proposal: lesser levels of merchant could have higher limits than 6k, until master, who would be unlimited.)
You know, I think I need to rename this thread to "Merchants as Redesigned by Architects"
