BTW - as far as I know there are *NO* schematics (e.g., harvesters, houses) that wire in a serial number for the walls. In everything I've seen a wall is a wall is a wall. I've mixed and matched hand-made walls from multiple sources along with crates from multiple runs to make harvesters with no problems whatsoever.
Thanks for the comments folks. I guess I'll be a little more open to exploring having the customer supply the resources.

I haven't had great experiences when a customer wants to give resources in lieu of credits. Some of them have an inflated idea of what their resources are worth and it's hard toconvince them that they're overvaluing things. Haven't had anyone come to me with discrete stacks of every material needed for something. That would pretty much be an instant turn down.

When people come to me saying they'll provide the resources, I'll let them tell me what they have. But, I usually have to tell them that they're quantities are not sufficient.
I need COMPONENTS not resources. If they can't provide all the components, then they purchase at my normal rate.
I've never had them be able to supply all the components.

I almost never do this because I know a lot of people don't trust us when we're working with their materials. Most of my business is done through my vendor. It also helps to be rp'ing a reclusive character and playing at odd hours. That all but forces players to see my vendor and not ask me directly.

I've been offered these types of trades, and in every case, it hasn't worked out. For the longest time, I didn't have any Thallium Copper (I would occassionally look for it, but never gave it serious attention). Then someone really wanted master arch chairs. So I told them I don't have the copper. If you find it, I'll make the chairs. After 2 weeks, they came back with 500 units. That was my best ever resource "trade".
If I get a similar offer in the future, I'll say that for 100k in ore, I'll pay 250k. When you supply me the 100k, I'll be happy to make what you need, and you can buy that item off my vendor. I don't want less than 100k in ore as a resource trade, but 100k would certainly be useful, and I'd have a hard time turning it down for 250k or less.
