Thread: Question: Prices for Artwork?

I'm selling the mon calamari eye paintings for 14k and they're going like hotcakes.

I've taken into consideration a number of factors when deciding on the price:
- The cost of the schematic is quite significant.
- A significant quantity of hides are required (85 for the mon cal painting) and it is highly unlikely that many architects will be able to get enough to make the maximum 1000 units on a factory schematic. Getting any significant quantity of hides is a real challenge. Hides are also not cheap since lots of other professions use hides.
- Furniture 3 is required to use the schematic.

And you can bet that my prices will increase when they rotate the artwork. Paintings make very nice decorations and they last forever! I think 14k is very reasonable when considering all these factors.

When I look at prices of items such as vasarian brandy and other chef foods, the limited use schematic weapons and clothing I think the painting is great value.

Need hides?

Find your friendly neighborhood ranger. 85k of one type of hide would be a bit problematic, but half that might be doable, especially if you hook up with a ranger PA. *shameless plug* The Antarian Rangers have groups on several servers, and I know that on most, they are happy to have their members gather resources in large quantities. I think the webiste is swgalaxies.net...but a google search should do it, too. (I had a bookmark, but my browser ate it!) On the AR website, you can find contact info and such for the galaxies that have a chapter.

So anyway, that is one way to find hides.

I bought 2 schematics, saved one for down the road, and did a 200+ run one the first one. I sell them for 10cpu +300c for schematic costs. Total is 1500. A far cry from the 15-75k sellers for sure, but a fair price. Thing to remember this is furniture and buildable from a schematic. Even hide doesn't justify a 100cpu cost on anything, even when quality matters. I did get a lot of resellers coming buy and buying a bunch. For them I put crates up. I did put my name on it, claiming to be the artist, so the reselling doesn't bother me. I call it the cost of fame.

True, but this is also a limited time schematic, which means the value could go up enormously after the schematic is no longer available.

Indeed, and if it is a Meparch original then the price will be over a mil each after the next time I clone.

I think it also depends upon the picture. The one on Kettemoor is the Krayt Dragon Skeleton and is a prime piece of work for Tatooine homes. I've sold 15-20 of them at 60k each. I know it's a pure profit item, and I say it's about time architects get one! I'm tired of working my backside off for 4 cpu ... if I'm lucky and don't crit fail... if I'm REAL lucky. Don't short change yourselves guys. The worth of a Rembrandt isn't 4x the cost of the canvas and paints.

Now if the painting isn't all that nice...then I'd probably half that price or maybe go down even a little more, but folks will buy one of these for their homes. One....ever.

Dragon Skeleton painting is on the test server. The mon-cal eye is in the same place on the live servers.

IMO the dragon skeleton painting is way cooler then the mon-cal eye.

Im chargeing 40-50k for the mon-cal eye and am selling quite a few. im on my second schamatic purchase.

I also will be buying and storeing at least one for future use

The picture varies from server to server. Depends on teh result of the vote that was held in Bestine.

OH NOOOOOO! damn damn damn! I completly forgot about the schematic thing! Had no idea it would work! I went and bought 3 of the damn things to make 6 paintings! I thought the idea of these things was to limit their production, creating a new rare, craftable item for us. Now seems anyone can flood the market with cheap mass produced "made in taiwan" replicas... and I blew 144k for nothin! oh well...

Yes, and a forward looking Architect will save space (instead of doing a large factory run now) and buy a bunch of the schematics to do future 'limited print' runs, say one a week/month for high profit sales.
