Actually you can retrieve those torches and any untargettable items by typing:

/pickup <complete item name>

This is how I got around the old leotard bug before they fixed it.

I have a "Patisserie" type thing going - it's basically four modern glass end tables in a half circle around the NPC vendor. Looks quite nice, but i definately want to try the table trick.

As for the cabnet thing, what one are you talking about? The rusty one?

The bar at the VeeCo cantina is made from several of the first lvl cabinet's placed in an L shape in a corner, with the doors facing in towards the vender. This closes the bartender vender in and looks pretty nice.
