You sell your BER13's for 120k? Yikes. Why do you charge the same as the old BER10's? That is my point all along. Archs only look at what it takes to make an item. Thus, your thinking is, "Hey, it takes the same amount of resources as the old ones did, so I'll charge the same". Why do you think like that? These do 30% more output as the old BER10's. When you look at that over a 1-2 week period, you are making tons more money in harvest for your customers. It's time archs look at what the items do for the customer, not just the resources it takes to make the item. Do you think that if they suddenly decided to raise the max on scout blasters from 150 (just an example) to 200, do you think smiths would charge the same price, or that customers wouldn't be willing to pay more? The only reason the devs rasised the BER of harvs was to help archs make more money. To the sell for the same price as the old ones defeats the whole purpose.

So you always get that BER 13 schematic on the first try? Wow, wish I could do that.

Btw RicFlair, not all arch's price simply by CPU, a lot of us have moved over to pricing by the value of the product, particularly in the case of experimented harvesters. But there are still some using the old method of pricing...

Generally for non experimented items I start my pricing at 3cpu and then adjust accordingly. So

Small planet houses 9k, small generic planet houses 10k

Medium planet houses 60k, medium generic houses 70k

I have not made Large houses and will not until someone specifically asks for one, the same goes for PA halls.

All factories in my vendor are 40k

The harvesters is where you have to do the most thinking.

I charge 1500 for ber 4 personals, and 2500 for ber 9 Wind Generators (I think these are the best deal of all, next to the medium minerals)

20k for ber 7 medium minerals and moisture vaps adding 5k for each additional ber up to 35k at ber 10.

For the rest of the mediums, flora, chem and natural gas I add 25k... so its 45k at ber 7 - 60k for ber 10's

I have not put any ber 13 heavies in my vendor yet the only onesI have made so far I have kept. But I did sell a ber11 heavy min for 45k and actually felt a little bad like I was ripping the person off.

The bottom line is sell at the price that feels right to you, your an arch...how much would expect to pay for a ber 10 med min? Start there.

Amen RicFlair

Replacement cost is just one approach to the value of something. There's a couple others like market and income approaches.

Market is what people are willing to pay. Selling a hospital at replacement cost of about 2.75 cpu is insanity. However, selling a hospital at 8ish cpu was market in my case, as that what someone was willing to pay, (300k)

Overall, supply and demand rules. If your stuff is flying off the shelf as soon as you put em on, raise your price to reflect demand. The "market" is willing to pay a little more for them. This of course assumes you market and advertise your product, and have a decent flow of folks in your vendor area.

Ugh. More people that don't get that selling for 2-3 cpu is silly. If I hear one more quote about "But I can harvest my own resources for .4 cpu, so I'm making a profit" I'm gonna puke. Please 'O Please get this through your thick skull, raw resources sell for 3 cpu, so selling crafted items for 3 cpu is NOT profitable. In addition, when you create an expectation that others should sell this low, it creates problems.

In "business" (as if things in game should be assumed as real world, like the people that think that making 20% on your resources is good), you never assume the absolute lowest cost for inventory as your basis for calculating profit. You assume the replacement costs for that inventory. In this case, replacement cost is having to buy your resources from the bazaar or on the forums, typically at 3 cpu (or more for obvious items).

In addition (saying it for the 1,000th time), for things like harvesters that create wealth for the customer, strictly looking at your own cpu costs for producing an item is short sighted. For things like houses and furniture, that approach is fine. People buying weapons don't think to themselves, "I'm only willing to pay 10 cpu for this gun". They only care about the final stats. The same should be the case for harvesters. To say things like "a BER10 medium for 50k is way too much" is silly.A BER10 medium will make the person over 200k credits in one week !!! A BER10 medium on a 75% spot produces 10,800 resources a day. At 3 cpu (again, assuming they get low quality stuff, this number could be assumed to be higher if the person is smart/lucky and gets better stuff), they net (after maintenance and power costs) 200k in profit from those resources. How in the world is it "way too much" to charge them 50k for that item? That's why I charge 100k for mine. It is paid off in less than 4 days!!

FYI, this is directed at that thread with the pricing guide on the Chimera server.

Ric, you better puke now buddy. I understand that you dont get it. But that doesnt mean that I dont get it.

Resources indeed areharvested ( for me anyway ) at .3 CPU and less. Which gives me a tremendous ammount of leeway around pricing and allows me to remian profitable while also being extremenly competitive. Your mental block that doesnt allow you to see the price that a resource can be harvested at keeps you from being competitive with me.

That is called a "business advantage" and I would indeed be a fool if I didnt exploit that.

So I do

100k for a medium mineral rate 10?!?! WOW! I sell those for 28-30k and I feel bad about sometimes cause they are only 3400 resources. I guess I need to rethink my pricing plan hehe

Non experimented stuff I sell for 3-4cpu. Furniture 5-6cpu since they are a pain to craft...

Oh no, 100k is what I sold the heavies for before the patch that allowed 10 BER mediums. I sell the medums for much less than that.

To me there is only one rate for harvestores. All my mediums are 10 ber, all my heavies are 13. I dont worry aobut pirces on lower BER rates becasue I dont deal in them.

The limiting factor with harvesting your own resources however, is volume of sales. And the limiting resource in architect is ore. Even if you have your factory and shop on someone else's lot, you would be limiting your sales volume from the amount of resources you can take in at .3 or less cpu.

Example: To make 2 hospitals, 3 cantinas 10 heavy harvesters, and 10 med harvesters and 30 small houses in a week, there's no way you could harvest the resources needed on your own. You can put a sizable dent in it. Unless you run 2 accounts and can follow the resource shifts those on the other account also..maybe. Personally, that's going a lil overboard I think anyway. To each their own tho hehe.

To pull this off week after week, you'll have to buy some of your resources.

Unless of course you don't have that kind of volume...if you sell a small house and a harvester in a week then sure harvesting your own would be the right choice.

I think Ric was talking about the larger operations, not small "ma and pop" operations.

I harvest every single resource myself, I have NEVER purchased a single resource. I have built an entire town, ( every town building, statues, fountains etc ) supplied over 15 PA's in the last couple of months and countless houses and extractors of every description.

Granted I have a wee bit of help, my small PA ( 7 total members ) place extractors for me with any spare lots they have. In return I also build for them any structures they request. I am generally running between 16 and 23 extractors at any one time.

( I take that back, I did have to buy a couple of Protocall ADV chassis, but they were cheap

Yeah help helps definately lol. With the cities too house demand definately shot up. Most folks buy 10 smalls a pop now
