Dacton-

Why should finished goods be more powerful than the raw resources? There are relatively few people in the market for houses right now and an oversupply of architects to build them. On the other hand, every aspiring crafter needs resources. When resources are sold on the bazaar, they are sold to weaponsmiths and armorsmiths and other architects and people power crafting their way to an advanced profession. That's a much larger market.

Plus, resources are consumable in a way houses are not. All those crafters you're selling resources to need one house to set up shop. One. Every other player needs only one, unless they decide to get bigger houses.

Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths can charge 50-100 cpu because everybody buys the best they can use/afford, then upgrades later either when they can afford better equipment or when their equipment wears out. Us architects have no such luxury.

Some people are selling houses at like 7k a piece. That is so unfair. They are putting other Architects out of business. I know crafters who first wanted to be Architects and then quit because they couldn't.

Welcome to the world of Capitalism! Even in real life people sometimes get undersold and have to change their careers. It stinks, its unfair, but just like real life, it happens. My advice: don't be an artisan -- it's a tough life!
Supply and demand: Consider that if house prices are too low, resulting in PC leaving the architecture profession, it may be that there were too many architects to begin with!

I think those of you who want us architects to sell our houses for higher prices, please quit being an architect and we remaining architects will raise our prices!
No one said that playing an artisan was going to be easy or fun. They just said you could do it in SWG.

Ya know all these posts .. all these threads .. i have YET to hear a good responce from one of you low ballers as to why you are even making structures ? Why not sell the raw material at 4cr per ? You'll make a hell of a lot more money, waste a lot less time.

You guys simply have no leg to stand on, it doesn't matter if you can mine for .001 cr /unit or 2 cr / unit, the bottom line is you are selling structures for LESS then you can sell the raw materials .. does your time, skill, and effort have a negative sales effect ? No other profession in the game does such a stupid thing as you low balling architects. Ask a weaponsmith to sell you a laser rifle for 800 credits and see what kind of responce you get

Heck DE's are bailing out of the game because they can't get 10k for probots .. Do you hear this ? Probots take 586 resources to make, thats it, yet they bail because they can't get 10k which is an 18:1 ratio ! You guys sell for 3:1 and think your doing good .. somethings wrong with this picture Just mine and sell the resources.

ok YOU ARE OVERCHARGING!!!

everwhere i got on the bazaar i don't see anything past 3 credits per unit!!! i normally charge 2 credits per unit and sell in massive bulks of 30k or higher units

if your buying from a **edit** bazaar at 5cr per unit then your a MORON!!!

sorry but i'm not changing my price because someone is stupid at buying items.

nekidfrog,

Maybe things are differnt on your server On chilastra the accepted going rate for resources is 4cr:unit, if you check the bazaar in coronet you see a great number of resources going for 6:1 and 8;1 and selling with no problem.

If you think prices are EVER going UP.. your are setting yourself up for some major dissapointment. The only thing going up is peoples tolerance for playing the "NPC" role. As in.. not actually working for a profit, but working for that combat class's ability to come get a house.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE. YOU ARE THE NPC VENDOR. YOU WORK FOR SONY. FORGET ABOUT CREDITS. ITS ABOUT OTHER PLAYERS BEING ABLE TO SPEND THEIR MONEY, NOT YOU MAKING IT FOR YOURSELF.

Guys and gals, last I heard we are supposed to be ARCHITECTS, not miners. Think about how much business you could do if you placed a few model homes in an area with your lots instead of your harvesters. You could bring whole groups of people by for tours of your homes, show off your furniture skill etc.

You'd be taking orders for houses by the 100's

Instead, you seem to be happy spending a minimum of 1 hour per day running around to your harvesters, putting money in, collecting resources to make your measly 2-3 houses a day (if you're extrememly lucky).

If you want to be a miner, more power to ya. Personally I'm an Architect, and I build structures with my game time.

As far as the 4 credits per resource, uh yeah? I tried selling a bunch of resources for 4 credits a resource and the only response I got was either "why not make your pirces more reasonable, like 2 credits a resource" or "I dont need that good of resource".

And yes, this was on Chilistria. Assuming that just because they are on the bazzar that its the "going rate" is also a mistake. Yes indeed. As a matter of fact, the reason they are there is because they HAVEN"T SOLD YET.

"When I try to sell them a large house for 195,000 they think im ripping them off."

Thats because.... brace yourself now....

You ARE ripping them off.

Mine your own resources you lazy bum!

Oh wait. You probably do mine your own resources. Then you use the Bazzar resource prices as an excuse to ballon your prices up.

On a side note, Small houses are generally going for 12-15k on my server which is OK. 50k is a pretty penny and 100K is a lot for most people. Smalls are fairly cheap, but Mediums and Large houses are not "cheap" at 50k and 100k respectively.

Yes. Ageold is right. If your profiting more than 500 credits from ANYTHING other thana PA hall you are ripping people off. You think your time is worth something?

evil,

I think you need to work on your sarcasm some it doesnt come off very well

First off sorry to say but 4cr:1 is the going rate on chilastra .. i've sold well over 500k resources in the last 3 weeks at that rate, a few people dont buy but typically come back after they gander at the bazaar. I've yet to see a single solitary sole selling at 2:1, a few have come in at 3:1 but are sold out after 10-15 mins and i'm back in business.

I really wish i could sell structures but i'm just not going to waste any more time building things and selling it for less then the resources cost, it just is not worth it.

Alright, here we go again.

Ordering people to price fix is not going to help you. For several reasons. First, not everyone reads these boards. Second, no one likes to be ordered around. Who the hell made you the Architect Union leader? Finally, no matter how many people you get to agree to your price fixing, there will always be someone willing to undercut you. Price is the only way for you to differentiate your products right now. The fact that architects are leaving is actually a good thing, as the supply of houses or whatever goes down, the price will go back up.

And the "Economics 101" argument is also wrong, in a pure market economy sure, no one would be able to sell items at a loss and keep in business. The real problem with that argument is the fact that credits are not the only reward for people to create items; they get XP too. If XP is the only thing you care about, then you might as well sell things as fast as you can, even if that means selling at a bit of a loss (or even a lot of loss).

There is your argument for why people are undercutting you. Its because they are getting XP, and selling the item just means their cost per XP goes down. Making a profit is secondary.

But regardless, if two people are trying to sell the same thing, the consumer is going to buy the one that costs less. The person who sells for a lower price might not make as much profit, but the person who stuck to the high price will have no profit at all. Price fixing will never work. The only thing that will help is being able to differentiate your products on something other than price, such as having experimentation help you. Until that works, price is all you have.
