I live on Starsider and spent the past 3 days looking for HQ Structure Crafting Stations. Does anyone know the location of a shop selling these things?

I'm not talking about the little red meter bar that tells you 6% 56% etc etc... Just to the right of the item description area. little blue 2 dots next to each other that says 'risk' Doesnt have any % or anything next to it, but everytime you experiment on something it gets higher. That one is NEVER zero from what I've seen.

Yes, I've wondered mightily what that little blue bar means as well. It goes up with each experiment that's run, is on the extreme right edge of the window, isn't labeled, and is right above the "risk" area where the red bars appear when there is a chance of risk on the item. What does this little blue bar indicate? I wish I could find the definitive answer!

I personally am of the opinion that if your experimentation window indicates "no risk," then there should be...NO RISK. I have also noticed that when you have successful experimentation tries, the numbers for BER go up quite slowly...but if you fail on even one single experimentation point, I've had base 12 harvesters get knocked back down to 10. On a SINGLE point. I feel that's monstrously unfair.

It's great that they gave us the opportunity to avoid critical fails when crafting the big items themselves, but I really do feel that Master Architects CF in experimentation too often. I use top quality tools and stations for my work and I get approximately 3-5 fails every 20 tries. That's up to a 25 percent failure rate for a master, and that's just unrealistic. If we have to CF during experimentation so often, then at least make it less painful! Why do we lose two extraction points for a CF on a single experimentation point? What happens is that you wind up producing a very expensive, incredibly resource intensive paperweight. Nobody in their right mind would buy a base 10 heavy harvester, and I dont blame them.

I've also noticed that almost every time I CF an experimentation point (I usually use 1-2 points a try as it does make a big difference in success rates, as was mentioned previously in this thread), I almost always get an "amazing success" right after it that has absolutely no effect whatsoever. I have never had a single base rate raise on an amazing success that occurs immediately after a CF in experimentation. Does anyone else have this issue? Anyone know why it happens?

As well, it seems that for all intents and purposes, amazing successes and great successes are exactly the same. That, too, is out of whack. An amazing success after a critical fail should at least raise me one point in base rate! It never has any effect, though, and if I'm lucky, I am sometimes able to raise the extraction rate back to an 11. However, since I notice almost all my CFs during experimentation come with the last one or two experimentation points, it busts my extraction down to 10 or 11 and then I have no points left to raise it with again.

And I get multiple CFs during experimentation about 75 percent of the time. It's enough to make you crazy. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's torqued about this. I'd really love to see the critical fail rate in experimentation lowered...it's very reasonable that master architects should fail their experiment once in a while. But 25 percent of the time? That's what I'd expect from an apprentice, not a master. Especially when zero risk is indicated. And since that blue bar is explained nowhere in the game that I have been able to find, to my mind, it doesn't count. What's the use of an indicator if there's no clue as to what it's indicating, you know?

I'm just crabby because I have to work now instead of being able to play. I just wanted to grumble a bit and add my moral support to my fellow architects who are frazzled by evil CFs. I really, really, really tremendously appreciate the fact that the CF issue with creating the items has now been addressed, though, so as someone else here said: I'll deal with the experimentation CF. As long as it doesn't mean CFing a PA, City Hall and three large houses in a row (I needed to get drunk after that one), then I'll deal with my heavy base 10 paperweights with a song in my heart and joy on my lips, lol.

But I'd still really love to know what that little blue bar indicates!

Also there doesnt seem to be much of a RNG involved in the experimentation. If you use exactly the same resources, and experiment exactly the same way, it seems like more often then not you'll get the same results. ie: last night was making mineral miners, BER 10.

Twice in a row, got to BER 10, and had 2 exp points left. Put them in capacity and had a CF 2 times in a row on 2 different harvesters at the exact same point. Of course CF'ing on capacity DROPPED my BER to 9!! So I just stopped experimenting on the capacity, as I hated loosing 10k on a CF fail on capacity that dropped my rate!

Last night was absolutly horrible for me.

Trying to make a schematic for Medium Florals, 10 BER. I have been able to make 4 out of 5 by hand over the past week or so, but needed to make a factory run for an order I have.

All attempts created base 7 BER medium florals. (Using BER 4 Sub componants). (That was good, no crit failures on initial combine).

However!!!

1: Amazing, Crit Fail, Amazing, Crit Fail,Good- 8 BER

2. Success, Success, Crit Fail, Success - 9 BER

3. Crit Fail, Success, Crit Fail, Success - 8 BER

4. Success, Crit Fail, Crit Fail, Amazing - 9 BER

5. Amazing, 3x Success - 10 BER, 2 points left for hopper size.

1 out of 5 successful combines! That BLOWS. The RNG has followed me from Everquest and hates me here just like there.

Sorry about that. Saw what you meant when I went online after I posted. Although I do remember having that down really low at one point and still got a critical failure. It wasn't with a harvester. I think it was for a survey or crafting tool during experimentation. Heck it even happened before I fully putone of the othertools together. And that was just last night.

OMG you failed on capacity experimentation and lost BER?!

That has never happened to me...that just doesn't seem to be right somehow. Why would your BER drop if you're experimenting on capacity?

Now I'm going to be extremely cautious about throwing those one or two last points into capacity, lol! I always used to do it before, and even when I've failed it miserably the BER has never dropped. I'm guessing that this is a bizarre bug of some kind...seems like you got a backward sort of double-whammy in experimentation, Fred

Maybe you should bug this issue, or submit a ticket on it. It seems totally illogical that what you're experiencing should be happening. I wonder if this happens to anyone else?

Sigh...half done with work for the day...so hard to keep my concentration when I want to playyyyyyyyyy...

Oh yea, it happened.. I was pretty ticked the first time it happened, and just logged off after the second.

NO mistake as of course I hit BER 10 before I even worry about cap.

I use 99% tools and 40.00 rating crafting station and I dont crit much anymore. I crit aboutonce in 7-8 constructs. I've been trying to study crits in experimentation, kinda har as it's quite random. 2 things are sure tho. More blue boxes in difficulty more likely you'll crit. Also more points at time you use for experiment lower quality you'll get in experimentation. Safe amounts for me have been 1-3 exp points at time and if I use 4-9 then I usually crit more often or get lousy experimentation roll.
