What if mastering professions was the only thing that really made you open up the FS slot, but doing certain things in the game could help you to 'accidentally' choose the right professions to master.

What I'm getting at is this: There are 5 random professions each of us have to master in order for us to open the FSCS. 4 of these professions will be revealed to us byholocrons (if we haven't already mastered them), and the last one will be left to us to find for ourselves and master it. My theory is that each time a person is badged, completes a theme park, declares residence, gains highest rank in their faction, etc, another profession is added to the one profession needed to master to become Jedi.

Example: A new player, having completed nothing in game, needs 5 professions to master. He loots 4 holo's that tell him 4 different professions. He then has one profession to master in order to get Jedi.

Example: An experienced player has 6 badges, completed Jabba Themepark, completed Imperial Thempark, gained highest rank in the Empire, has declared residence, and has mastered only the 4 holocron professions. My theory is that he will have another 10 professions to choose from to master in order to get Jedi.6 badges + 2 themeparks+ highest rank + declared residence = 10 professions other than just the one random one he has to masteralready, making it a total of 11professionsto choose the exact one to master in.

This also explains why some lucky few did get Jedi by only mastering 5 professions. They were lucky enough to pick the fifth one without help from anything else. This "luck" factor is throwing us all off.

Do I make sense? I hope so, but I can't be proven wrong I think. I honestly hope somebody can prove me wrong, but this would also be a nice way the Devs could make it interesting.

... the professions are chosen when you create your character, not by actions during gameplay... and its 5 profesions.. no more, no less.

When they gave us info about a new way to become Jedi and no longer doing profession after profession to become one, I was happy. The new system seems to be great. And I started to think on Leia, Luke, Vader and Yoda and other characters from the movies.

But no. Nothing of that. What we got was an Old man, Stoneage village and people going nade crazy and then boom Jedi.

Myself I just whant to feel the lightsaber, not run around and kill people or make shows in towns.

So I was hoping on a quest system. Allmost like it is today, first you must become glowing and have the force inside. But then start working on it, seek help. Like they are doing in the movies. They have the force, but they seek help from the light or darkside.

So let say if you are Rebel you do mission (training) with Yoda or some other Jedimaster. First you might need to work on your force (like Luke) then you get a training lightsaber. And this is not going to go fast, but also not too long. With this lightsaber you train and train and also train your powers. By doing normal mission and do get better skills you train with your master. Or he give you special missions. Here comes the real training. When you have your force and your own training lightsaber. No robe, that you only get when you are Jedi and ready.

And if SOE don't whant everything to go fast, then they can simply just program so that master say "You still need more training" or something like that.

But I think this will be more fun. That from the day you whant to become Jedi you get the feeling of it. No nade grinding and things like that. Like a special Jedi xp pool. You must use your powers and your lightsaber to gain xp and then level up.

And when you do this you meet characters from the movies ect and get the feeling you are in Star Wars and your are going to become Jedi.

What do you think?

I think they should just make Jedi Master NPC's (cleverly disguised of course) and make them like the pilot missions - they give you missions you gain xp and skill boxes...simple...effective...more fun.

Ok well maybe that would be too easy, but it's the concept. They already have the concept with the pilot trainers - just need to fine tune it for Jedi. A quest-based system for advancement would be a lot more fun than whacking critters non-stop. Besides which Jedi have a respect for life and don't just go around killing living organisms so there is definitely some room for improvement here. The Dark Side Jedi should be able to run around and kill critters to grind since they have no respect for life or perceived weakness. Ultimately this would lead to dark side being "easier" to get for the grinders that like beating Nunas senseless (The Dark Side IS the quick and easy path after all), while the Light Side would take longer, but be more quest intensive.....hmm....ok I'm done talking out my @ss It's just a dream.

Yes. It might only be a dream. Saying nothing don't help, get angry don't help. So I do like this. Even if I think SOE never going to change it again. But who knows if there are more, it might change. =)
