But overall you will get: 21.560 credits profit from your medium and 27.840 from your heavy.

Right - that's the bottom line from an *economic* standpoint. Once you get yourself going (that is, you put out 10 BER4 smalls until you get enough ahead to upgrade to N BER10 mediums until you get enough ahead to upgrade to 10 BER13s) then heavies are absolutely the way to go. You can talk about "how much maintenance it takes" all you want, but as soon as you have more than 1 day's worth of maintenance money for the heavies in your hands, you are making (in this example) 6K credits more each day for each heavy that you use instead of a medium.

I did a test a little while ago. I started a new character on a server. I ran artisan missions long enough to buy a few BER4's on the bazaar and a little power. I surveyed a little and dropped those on the first mineral over 80% that I found. I ran a couple more missions and bought a couple more harvesters and set them out. I played as little as possible to accomplish those things.

Less than 2 weeks later I had a fleet of 10 BER4 harvesters, an X34, some other stuff (pistols, probot, etc), and 600K in the bank. I stopped the test at that point, but it's clear that in another week I could have easily had 10 BER10 harvesters out there and been making at least 150K a day in profit. Mining is very profitable and once you get ahead of the curve essentially nothing can stop you from getting filthy rich.
