Thread: Best Kept Secret Stay away Gorath Architects

You guys have really inspired me to use more creative marketing. At the moment, I make sure the EVERY thing I produce has my company name before it. I figgure the more people see my stuff, the more people will be exposed to the name and will think highly of my products. I guess you can say I am building a brand name presence. Even all my structures advetise my company name; though its short and catchy (Kicker Co.) it takes dedication to re-type it every time I lay down a harvester.
Out of curiosity, has anyone here seen my brand name yet? (Bria)
My $.02, and feel free to disagree, many do.
Branding Weapons, Armor,Structure Signs,(You'll want to macro that btw) is fine. You only see the name ofcombat gear when you equip it, and when you insure it. Also, weapons and armor are experimentable and those crafters will want to work on building a brand name. Architects? Not so much.
When people buy your furniture, your name will pop up everytime you try to use it, or walk by it, depending on your settings. Many people (myself included) find this distasteful. Roleplayers will avoid your stufflike the plague, and they're a GOOD market. Me,I go so far as to even remove the "Type one" from all my plants. I buy furniture off the bazzar from time to time (when it's cheaper than making it myself) and it's safe to say that the stuff without names sells faster. Your mileage may vary, but try this. Go to the bazaar, and sort by date. The furniture with the lowest time remaining (not selling) allways seems to be overpriced or branded. If you can figure out any sort of stuff the stuff on the bottom of the stack has in common, whatever it is, don't do it!
Branding is sort of the dark mirror of clever naming. Giving your customers a clever name on a piece of furniture, or turning their living room into a Nascar-like parade of competing architects brand names. Some players care, some don't. Personally I think the safe money is on the non-branded, since the people that don't care will buy either, but the people that DO care won't buy the branded.
Harvester branding on the other hand, is fine, butof limited usefullnesssince the names don't stick when planted, and don't ever decay with maintenance. I've been using the same set of harvesters for over a year now, like lots of people. I find it best just to rename those to the stats, and that's pretty common these days.
But like I said, if it's working, obviously, I can't tell you you're doing something wrong. These are simply my thoughts and observations.

I will respond to this post with the results later on.
