Thread: Building construction timers....

So jedi dont keep a small house in their pocket.....just in case. Because it does "hurt" when your mark pulls a quaker instant-house (Just add water!!!)out of his a$$ and throws it down and hides in it. So again I ask, how does waiting ....to hell with 5 minutes, THREE minutes, "hurt" you?
If I'm not a Jedi, I have no reason to be standing around for no apparent reason while my house thinks about getting built. There is no fun in standing around staring at a red ribbon construction marker for 5, 3, 2 minutes or whatever - just because you can't get some Jedi that you really, really, really want.
Here's an idea - Jedi ina house, MOVE ON. There are a TON of Jedi on the terminals, go right on ahead and keep trying. Just because you take a player bounty doesn't mean anything that person does to stay safe should involve changes that are detrimental to other players - so you don't have to spend the time to get another mission.
The Jedi's in a house, they beat you. Move along. If money is so important to you, keep hunting as you should be doing, until you find some Jedi not paying attention and in the open, root them, snare them, knock them down, blast them. But stop with trying to screw up other people's games - you can feel free to ask Smugglers about that, with the Feign Death thing.
Now, please keep your Jedi hate in the Bounty Hunter or GCW boards, where it belongs.
Thank you, come again.
Yes, I do.

Yes, it would.

How often do Jedi running away from BH whip out a house and then hide in it to avoid the BH? Every play session? It kills the BH to have a Jedi get away?
A bettter solution was already proposed: make it so you can't build a house during combat.

sorry, I think it is lame you can build a mansion in less time then it takes to call a speeder.
Screw houses, I moved 2 harvesters today, redeeded a fusion plant to plant a heavy mineral, ignored the lot of them wednesday, moved 3 tues...
And I run a small operation.
So yah, a delay in construction would have an effect. I can see the devs program one delay for one thing, another for a different type, get them mixed up and bugged, wait for a patch to be able to plant any of a third...
I wouldn't really mind a delay though, I'd just read the forums while waiting.

Pointless time sinks are just that. Pointless.
My comments were directed at houses only.. I see nothing wrong with a minute timer to building a house. structures that are moved on an ongoing basis, ie harvesters shouldn't apply.
I have personaly placed a total of 5 houses in the year i have played this game. wow, thats 5 whole minutes I sunk my time into building homes.
I lose more time duringoneplay session calling my speeder.

The thing WRONG with increasing the timer to build a house is that it is NOT NECESSARY.
*IF* this needs to be changed then make it so that you can't build a house during combat if thats not already the case. I can't imagine why you'd be able to build a house in combat anyway.

During any given day, building a house or two is something I do, being the mayor and city planner of my city. As I am a perfectionist, like many other city planners, I place the house and then /transferstructure. I also run a major business in game, and run a 40 member guild as the sole leader.
Waiting a minute, two minutes, or more, is that many more minutes it takes me to get a new citizen settled into their home. My time is finite, as I also have a real life to tend to which consists of two of my own children, and one that I babysit, and my husband too. Often times I have my day planned down to exactly the minute. (Yes, I'm also an obsessive compulsive that way.)
My point being that as a crafter only, I already have dozens of pointless time sinks, such as restocking up to 8000 items on the two vendor characters I control. Do not add more time sinks in an area that does not need them. Not able to build during combat I'm also somewhat against, as I'm fond of the drop harvester and run away fast in hopes to live in the wilds of Combat Level 1 vrs anything in the game. A one minute delay from drop to completion would definitely spell death for me in many cases - and you know if they did this, it would be all structures.
I do happen to remember the days when Jedi were unable to own homes or structures entirely.
I'd prefer to see the TEF system go away entirely. Or perhaps the use of a thermal detonator on the front door as a knocker might be a nice option too. Anyone for blowing things up?

Why does every fix have to be about BH and Jedi? Get over yourself and let's get some new buildings and colorization before adding ANYTHING to help these professions.

"I can't play the game *exactly* like I want to, so I want everyone else to change the way they play so I can have my way."
Maybe that's not the message you were trying to send, but that is certainly the message we are hearing.
