Thread: Housing/Item Storage: Just an idea I had, bump if you think its worthwhile

It wouldn't matter how many items per house/lot, but you could only have 1000 items stored, spread over all your lots. This way, you can have one (or more) well-decorated house, with storage room to spare! Then being able to use your other lots for harvesters and factories (yes, the input/output hopper would take up some of your storage, but you wouldn't feel like you had to store your other items in factories to save on lot space.)
Personally, I HATE having to run out to one of my two clothing-storage houses just to change my clothes. (Yes, that may mean I own too many clothes, but that's not my point) Being able to store them all in ONE house would be so useful.
And this wouldn't necessarily hurt the architects' business, since many people would fill up their extra lots with the harvesters or factories that they don't currently have the lots for, due to needing so many small storage houses. And harvesters/factories are generally higher-ticket items than small houses anyway.
The Devs hate hoarding. In the past they've been loathe to grant us more storage. We've already recently gotten more storage. I don't know how willing they are to granting more storage, since they gave us a lot already.
She's not asking for MORE storage, just the ability to use ALL her allotted storage space (1000 items - 10 1-lot small houses) without having to plunk down 10 1-lot houses (or factories, or what-have-you) and run between them to find things.

Although I agree with the idea, the past has shown that there's no chance of this getting implemented. Would be nice, though, to lower the structures used.

I would just as soon see anything made in the Architect Furniture line NOT count against the item limit in housing. Factory crates of furniture, yes, but not pulled items. No rational person is going to hoard furniture, but if there has to be a limit, give each house 200 pieces of furniture per lot, and anything after that counts as normal. Or something like that.
Man, NIxi would flip if they did this! hehe
While on the surface the system appears to be 100 items per lot with a maximum of 400, it is instead that each individual structure holds a specified number of items.

Solution - Generate as many Yacths as you can and store stuff in there!
Hello, Mr. ReadingComprehension ![]()
I know I can do that already - a house and a pile of factories- and I specifically said that's NOT what this was about.
Its not about "storing" or "hoarding" items for the sake of having them, its about being able to decorate a SINGLE house, to the hilt, without running up against these stupid #of_items_per_house restrictions.
What's the point of having hundreds of Architect-craftable pieces of furniture, and hundreds of new drops from RoTW, if the only thing you can do with them is store 'em in a factory?!
How about ....
1. Limit the amount of houses (physical houses not factories etc etc) to 2.
2. Set all houses so that they can hold 500 items each instead of diferent houses holding diferent amounts.
this would have the effect of ....
A) Still keeping the 1000 items across lots rule, therefore putting no more strain on the item database servers.
B) Stop so many extra houses being placed for storage and thus cluttering up the landscape, thus reducing strain on the database servers.
C) Allow people to choose the house type depending on their preference and to decorate it as they wish without too many restrictions.
D) By freeing up lots crafter can actually have houses for storage AND have harvesters/factories of their own, thus cutting down on lot trading.
