I like it. I have been working for a while to get architect on the Shadowfire server adn while ther is still demand there, it will surely fade. realistically, how many new people will come to a server after the first few months? I looked forward to the end of architect and I really can't see it going anywhere at the current.

ALSO one MAJOR thing I would like to see fixed is the structure manufature bug. On my first two houses I lost one of each (50-50 ratio) of the houses. While the components were still there I could not get them back out and I could not try to build again. That is a LOT of ore that I worked hours and hours gathering. Not only that it was expensive to maintain all the harvesters to have all efforts fail.

I am just a novice at this point but I really can't see going any further in this skill with no point or purpose. I am seeing a couple other archi's on my server already and soon the planet will be filled with houses. Unless something changes soon, this will be a dead profession on all the "mature" servers. No one will want to even think about it with all the needs and demand met.

/bump!

I think we should be able to gain many of those schematics through FP purchases (like the droid schematics) since its GCW based.

How much of the defense idea wil be incorporated into urban planner I wonder... I suspect they are needing ideas to flesh that out, and are more likely to fill it up with any new ideas we come up with.

Architect is only a dead-end profession if you stop there. Head to Urban planner and you'll have plenty to do. But I can imagine too many people getting into the profession and having similar problems to the price-cutting through grinding we saw in the initial release for all architects.

I like this idea. Not sure how easy it would be for them to implement. But it would be nice to see.

I also like this idea. Buyt maybe make the addons destroyable, but not the structure itself, since it's only the addons that have any GCW benefit

Glug, its ok if they make them FP purchases as long as any architect can build the item. If you require the architect to join a side to build it you effectively remove this from the neutral architects ability to assist and be a profiteer.

The purpose of something like this is to help the architect profession continue to survive, not force them to choose sides.

Hey maybe we will get to build the player vehicles? which i higly doubt. or maybe starcraft when the space mod comes out. maybe another elite profession.

as soon as i get my guilds stuuf all filled up im thinking of dropping architect cause it isn't profitable like weaponsmith is. and if urban planer takes up more skill points i dont know if i want to forget rifleman and marksman and become non-combat......Unless i know that the space mod will give you a whole new set of skill points just for outerspace skills?

last i heard they were looking at making the space expansion have its own set of points, but thats likely still a long way off and could easily change.

Yes and no on the choosing sides part. The game is about the war. It's about the struggle. Yes, you shouldn't be forced to choose a side, which you aren't. But you should also gain benefits if you do. As far as I can tell, there is no real benefit as an arch to join a faction.

I think this is a great idea, and for the first time ever in this forum, seems like everyone more or less agrees, with minor disagreements on specifics, but dang.. lets push on this..

Drewsifer, honest question here as I haven't played any of the other crafting professions.

Do they get an advantage by choosing a side?

Seems as though in choosing a side, especially if I'm not in a PA, I'm cutting my business potential in half approximately so it would have to be a reallllllly good incentive for me to do that.

Totally agree. I've been making this same statement since Beta about the fact that Architects should be an integral part of the GCW.

A darn fine idea Ihope the Devs are listening (reading) this thread and that they take this idea and run with it.
