Thread: Using Crafting Stations Some facts about the Functionality Rating

Not to throw you another curve ball, but I'm not even sure all great sucesses are the same. or even good sucesses for that matter. I wont be able to give you any hard numbers till later tonight, because I'm at work. But this test needs to be run as a function of the final experimentation numbers not the types of sucesses.
May you be more specific about the type of crafting you do... items, level, number of points for experimentations, and so on... ?
You state things but we have no clues of what and how you were doing them.
Right now, I haven't seen any real hard evidence that proves one way or the other that the high rating stations actually help.
Some people claim they have better results but, others claim they have worst results.
Me, personally, it appears I have worst results. I seem to have far more experimentation failures in front of the high rating stations that I do my 13+ station. It could have just been a streak of bad luck.
I have yet to see a Dev team member say yes, absolutely, it does help. I may have missed it though.
Of course, they may thing that itis SUPPOSED to help but is the code for that working properly? Is it REALLY providing a bonus like it is supposed to or, is it broken?
What is the REAL difference between effectiveness and functionality ratings as far as the game is concerned?
Does an effectiveness rating effect such and such while the functionality rating effect something else? Is the functionality rating only specifying the functionality of the station itself? I mean what's the truth here and the facts? What does the effectiveness rating effect? What does the functionality rating effect?
I think we need someone on the Dev team to get real hard factual answers and to make sure the code is working as intended.
I'm working on it Lakys, Basicly just waiting for my 0.0% Effective components to finish so I can make some Infamous -45.0 Stations to compare against my 43.63's
. Already did several practice runs.
On an intresting side note. I think its possible that the crafting tools functionality rating might be reversed, ie a -15.0>+15.0 tool. Havent prooved anything, but saw some suspicous results.
BTW I'm going to do Structural Modules first, then probably Fishing Poles and CDF's. I dont have the time or desire to do 1100 tests like you did, but they will be significant enough hopefully.

Wierd I did a run with 100 plants each on a 20, 30, and a 40 station and I got exactly oposite results with no real difference on combine but a variance on the experimentation rate
Amazing... but note that my test with energy distributor could hardly show a difference between 15FR and 43FR. It went from 3% to 2% (with an error of +/-1.2% using a 3-sigmas population deviation).
Now we all know that architecture experimentation may still be broken. As we cannot reach more than 50 points, it is possible that the station has a greater effect.
You put them into 4 categories, but there are definately more...
Critical Failure
Moderate Failure
Failure
Marginal success
Success
Good success
Great success
Amazing Success
There might be more... I'm pretty sure Marginal success is real, but it's rare. I know I've seen it before.
In short, I would say that your data suffered from "rounding errors", as you rounded them before doing any analysis.
But it definately appears that a higher functionality station gives a person more great and amazing successes. Especially when the risk factor is at 0% (Use 1 experiment point at a time, not the whole batch)

Yeah, it's some nice graphs and all, but you really need to keep all the results separate and not bunch them up.

Exact, I am aware of the other categories. But considering it was hardly possible to get a single moderate failure, good success and amazing success in 200 similar experimentation samples, I have choosen to gather them in bigger categories. To make accurate tests including them, we should make at least 1000 samplesper tests, meaning basically a batch of 4000 or 5000 experimentations (or 20000 experimentations if you wish to differentiate Experimentation Pointsused at once like me). Considering that there is no way to automate those tests, that after two hours the tester (I) may be tired and may make errorswriting down the result of each experimentation/assembly, I prefered to make raisonable tests. I think I have spent at least 6 hours or 8 hours onthree days to make those tests. I wish other crafters could help me in this effort.
You state that a greater functionality rating station gives a person more great and amazing successes using a risk factor at 0% and using one point at once. I don't deny it might be right in certain cases. But how do you explain that after 200 experimentations using one point at once and a 43FR station, I could not even get a single Amazing Success on CDEF Pistol ? I am master artisan Mon Cal, I used 14.85TE tool.
It is my turn to ask you some accurate datas. You havestated things without providing anyinformations and resultsof your experiences. I encourage you do so, at least if you wish to makethis thread progressing ina constructive way.
Thank you.
Still working on it. I got bogged down trying to make a -45.00 station, and then I started getting requests from friends. I'll give it another go tonight though.
One thing is obvious to me though, Atleast in Artisan Experimentation. If you have 10 full experimentation points you will almost always hit your resource max in any experimentation given 2 or 3 trys no matter what station. Of course if there is more then 1 experimentation possiblity then if you could hit your max with say 9 points in one category then you could use another point in another category.
But how do you explain that after 200 experimentations using one point at once and a 43FR station, I could not even get a single Amazing Success on CDEF Pistol ?

Random Number Generator
Small Sample Size
User Fatigue
Server Glitch(been getting reports that at certain hours, the server is realy greedy with results)
Could be any or all of the above.

Very True. I did not provide any numeric data.
I have sold in the neighborhood of 200 high quality crafting stations. Nearly every person who bought one has sent me a tell or email saying how much better their items are now. I've had new weaponcrafters hang out in my shop, because they claim to be getting better results with my stations that are on display.
I have gotten one report of how a persons results were not up to what we expected. This person(a guildmate) had contacted a GM, and were told that it's a known issue and that stations were not working properly for some people, and that it would be looked into.
As I am one of the cornerstones of crafting stations on my server, I am one of the first to hear of any issues involving them. I have statiosn on display, and encourage people to test them before they buy... or even test them indefinately.
I myself do a lot of combines... especially when making crafting stations. When making the master artisan parts, it's very rare for me to every get anything less than a great success. This means I throw very few parts away. Again, I don't have numbers on this... but I KNOW the results that I get. If I get anything less than a great success, the item won't me maximum experimented, and thus is trash to me.
Now it might be different for other items... It could be that CDEF's are using some really odd experimentation table... I just don't know.
All I know is that weaponcrafters and doctors just love me.
