Hi,

but how many of them are active? Most of the Architects I know retired from active selling and just use their skills for themself or for their PA.

Myself is one of those, I focus on Master Merchant since Weeks, the only reason why I am still a Master Architect is to be independent and because the Idea of the Architect is funny. However, without an income, and I doubt that player Cities will generate this, the class is dead. Why? Cause those PA-Architects (I am in no PA) will do all they need for their city. They leveld them for the PA-Halls, now they use em for their Cities. We just sell a few things a week, thats the biggest problem for new Architects, being patient, and supports those Part-Time Architects who search for their Crafting tool once every few weeks.

Not to forget those Novice Architects who have been chosen by DEs to be independent from Architects, like I did by skilling Novice DE.

From my point of view, why are so many people looking out for Architects when there are even more than Weaponsmiths? A few weeks ago I saw Novice Architects selling their small houses at every starport for 8k, now I see people yelling for an Architect at every starport.

Something isnt working as supposed and should be changed. Redeeding Tools would be a first aproach, but if I would redesign Architects and Artisans, a lot of things would change.

For now we need a change for those who arent just an Architect for PA-Needs, which means more Ressource-Management, more Quality and more revolving Business for (active) Architects.

From my point of view, most Architects are just like most of the Merchants, They are just skilled for a specific Purpose. I would love to see how many Merchants skilled more than just Advertising 3. The Architects are dead cause there is no Business, not because the class is crap.

You see how many People respond to Postings in the last few weeks. Ill take it as s lack of interest what happens to the class, cause they focus on other things, like I do.

However, I will not give up on the Class and want to get something changed, thats why this thread exists, but nobody cares, thats what I see. Not just in this thread, also in others.

Hi Archangel,

thx for your support on this. But now that youve told us to not make petitions anymore it might be worth a try if you make a poll out of this. It will get bigger attention if its posted by the correspondant instead of just a noob :-)

I am just interested in the change, so every support is welcome and I did not know another way and thought a petition is the way to get attention.

A comment from a Dev would be great too, cause I think this can be easily implemented (not all of it, but the basic things) it might get a positive response there too which may help a bit.

Actually this is a perfect item for Master Artisan to make. Seeing it actually has nothing to do with being an Architect just another way to make money

Not sure I like the idea of a redeeding kit - seems a bit contrived. However, I do love #4 and 5from your original post as it seems more realistic.

Now, I'm not coming at this from an Architect stand point butrather as a real-life copy jock.I run a big production copierand for the most part - once it's paid for, it's paid for. However, there area few parts that do need to be replaced as a matter of course. Every 300,000 copies the fuser roller gets replaced, etc. The SWG analog would be theHeavy Mineral Miner need to have the Ore Mining Unit periodically replaced - as per #5 in the original post. Have it wearing out after so many 100K of mining give opportunities for after market sales - the economical "just keep it running" parts as well as high-performance replacements.

I'd recommend only having one such item per harvestor to avoid the burden of having to track too many replaceables and have personal harvestors be effectively throw away items (though they are pertty much that already).

A funny thought - what if the DEVs added a permission to harvestors like "Service Technicians". These people would only be allowed to pay maintenance, add power and replace parts. Would a business where people just went around servicing other people's harvestor's be viable?

Anyhow - creating an after-market for the architects is sorely needed and Moepple's idea is worthy of further discussion.

Could you imagine what someone who has to deal with the public from 9-to-5 would do with that as their profession?

Title: "Master Service Representative"

Bio: "You pay me money. I ignore you. You got a problem with that, I'll break your heavy harvester. You got a problem with your broken harvester, /report it! HAH!"

Excuse to CSR when flagged for griefing: "I was roleplaying!"

Flag removed.

(You're right. It'd be a heck of a lot of fun!)

AngryHoopJumper - lol - that would be pretty funny! Service Technician from Hoth!
-----------------------------
Tech - "Oh, I can come out and take a look at the thing - there's a 1000Cr minimum charge"

Crafter - "Ok, here's the money - can you get it running again?"

Tech - [looks over harvestor] - Oh, I'll have to order that part - it'll be in about 3-4 days. Unless it's back ordered. Oh, and that'll be 5000Cr upon delivery + labor.

Crafter - D'oh!
-----------------------------

But I was just musing - I already make a decent living selling power to crafters that do not want to use lots for power generation or just need supplemental power. Would crafters be willing to pay someone to make the maintenance/power runs for them and replace worn out parts (if this idea got implemented)? A new permission would be required (previously mentioned service tech) to prevent looting scams - "Sure buddy, I'll keep your harvestors running" as he proceeds to empty harvestor into his pack.

Again - just an idle musing about new ways to make money in the game.
