Well, that was an early-early beta IDEA that never came to fruition. It's all timed right now, and I like it that way. A limited resource pool gives yet another advantage to people who come into the game supported by a PA.

There is a nice field of copper near my house. There is a PA that has 10 medium miners up on it. Think of how much more incredibly frustrating resource gathering would be if it was ALSO a competition to see who could put the most harvesters up on a given resource.

(As usual: People who are supported by a PA have every right to advance quicker than someone who is solo... but this should never be done at the expense of the solo player.)

Somehow, the depletion of a resource should be shown in it's %age.

Say a 90% spot has 7 days until it runs out. Server up on day 1 it should show 90%. Server up on day 2 it should survey at 6/7ths of 90% or 77%. This continues until the resource is at 0. This same resource, in an area where it only measures 50% would measure 6/7ths of 50%, or about 43% on second day... and eventually, on day 7, be at 0 as well.

I know this would require some coding and a system a bit more complex than what is currently used, but the current system is MUCH too taxing on people that rely heavily on resources to earn an existance.

depletion is fun, and a good way to make sure we have less ore :-)

They had resource depletion in beta. Believe me if they left it in you'd be complaining even more than you are now. It really sucked.
