The only thing worse than mastery of professions (especially ones that people would have no other desire to even get novice in), is the fact the to receive guidance (a holocron) you have to be able to kill fairly powerful npc's. How far would Luke have gotten from tat, if he had to take out the npc's that would 'guide' him to mastering architecture, or droid engineer, or chef ? It's a slap in the face of pure artisan classes, imo.

I've just started Artisan, and am pleasantly suprised at the lack of actual grinding involved, compared to my tailor friend who is slowly going insane making 30,000 20-unit shirts. I don't have a Holocron, and couldn't care less about Jedis. Since I have no corporate sponsorship, (i.e Huge Pile of Cash and Ore), to me the interesting part of the profession is the logistics and sales side of it.

Yes, I could just practice grind, but to me it seems plain wrong to be throwing away potential objects that substantial.

To be honest, though, I think I'd have preferred to see a simple xp-based system for Jedi, ("Kill X many whatever, and you can have a lightsabre"), as opposed to this ridiculous set up currently. That way you wouldn't have all this Powergrinding Drivethru market dumping causing havoc for other people, and no-one would have to go off and spend weeks learning a profession they have no interest in anyway. (This works both ways, I imagine...I don't suppose, assuming they ever *see* a Holocron, that many dedicated crafters are particularly interested in chain butterfly-whacking as a way to play.)

It's crafting the generators is what gives the good XP.

Then the statues.

I don't agree with this at all even though I took advantage of it.

Master Architect should be very hard to attain and honestly it is unless you have enough money to buy an insane amount of resources, like I said I spent 2 million on them which most people can't afford.

I can't imagine having no money and no resources and be told to master architect, that would take some serious time.

I was asked today how much for a medium naboo house and I told the guy honestly I have no clue I've never sold one which isn't a good thing to hear from a master architects mouth.

ON BRIGHT SIDE!

I never knew honestly what a pain in the @ss making half this stuff is for you guys.

I bought my large Naboo house for 95k!!! HAHAHA

With all the BS you have to make and all the sh!t you have to have to do to make one that is insanely cheap!

Now that I know exactly how they are made and how much trouble you have to go through to make one. I will happily pay 200k for one no sweat, even 300k.

So what I'm saying is now that I think about it, it may not be so bad after all. I now know, not think I know how hard it is, how much money it costs, and how much BS you have to go through to make half the sh1t you guys do.

So RAISE YOUR PRICES, I won't mind not after being a Master Architect for a day any way.

Thrahl on the Decay thing not being a godsend, you just wait. Wait another 2 or 3 weeks.

The reason why stuff is not flying off the shelves now is because not many people if any have had their stuff decay completely.

Few more weeks and you WILL see half naked people running out of the cloning facilty to the bazaar or to the nearest tailor shop looking to buy a pair of pants because they honestly don't have any to wear.

Destryr I paid LESS than 2CPU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crazy I know but like I said I dropped 2 million credits. Plus this women had an insane, and still does, amount of resources.I paid 1 million credits one day and walked away with like 12 resources containers all containing 100k

I get a better deal on the second day when I dropped 1 million again with her.

She's great.

And everything you are saying is true true true but there are always two sides to everything read my other recent posts and see what I discovered.

First, let me say that it is goofy to one-star the origonal poster.

His point is a valid one, and it brings to light a real problem that is seen by DE's as well.

People are grinding to master without a care for the true players who really enjoy the profession (in my case, I have been a DE since day 1). They then go and dump crud on the market for far less than the cost of making the items - just to get some money back out of the deal.

I don't know that there is anything that can be done about it... I was just browsing some of the other crafter boards to see how many of those are being spammed with "How do I macro to master in 7 hours" type posts, and saw this one.

Ah, well... I guess that we'll see MSE's with the full range of modules for 1K and 5K large houses...

I agree with Pvt that in the long run, having to master multiple professions for Jediwill actually make like BETTER for crafters.

Virtually all of the combat folks have no idea how much effort goes into making items. They think that you just click a button and the right product pops out.

I have been a crafter in EQ, DAoC and now SWG. I have a master tailor (what a PITA that was), master merchant (easy, but slow XP) and I'm working on master architect now. Each proferssion has its challenges. Gaining XP as an architect is much easier that in tailor. However, making a useful item as an architecht is far more work that making a complex tailored item . I now have a better understanding of why some items are 100K or more.

Now, all of the combat classes (who oddly enough are far richer than I am) get a taste of what we have to go through. No longer will they assume we just push a button and magic happens. I really think this will be good for crafters. Just wait another couple of weeks before you really expect to see a different attitude on a wide scale.

My next holo told me to Master Merchant!!!!!

I have no clue what to do here I'm stuck in my situation for awhile.

Do I :

a.) Stay master arch and sell stuff from my vendors to gain merchant xp?

b.) Set up vendors in high traffic areas so that they are always loaded into the game because someone is near then and just gain the merhcant XP the slow way?

c.) Pay someone to keep buying junk outta my vendor that I put in there for 1 cpu?

d.) Give up on FS altogether?

I have no clue I hate the holocron and what it said to me!

Make small junk like wep powerups/tents/pretty much anything fast to craftand cheap works.

Throw up small housing outside major town on the big 3 planets. One vendor in each stocked with a ton of cheap powerups plus you throwing some on bazaar everytime you pass one will getcha enuff merchant experience to master merchant in a few days.

Fewer if you dont even care about profit and are truly grinding just to dump it.

Bonus is you dont have to stay at it "grinding" the whole time. Go do something else and it'll just fly in.

Worst pita is having to go find a trainer when yer in the middle of something else when your merchant exp hits the softcap per level.

rude that.

good luck.

Actually merchant is super easy...but longer than 6 hours. You can even do it all on the same planet/area.

1) Set up a house
2) Place a merchant in the house
3) Set an access fee of like 1 credit for 15 minutes
4) Level the "Management" line first - this will get you more vendors
5) Repeat step 1 until all your available vendors are used

You get Merchant XP for people paying access fees, and Merchant XP "over time" for each vendor you have. You DO NOT get XP for making sales, or having people access your vendor. Pay people to run to all your houses in the area and pay the access fees, you'll get lots of Merchant XP that way.

Hope this helps.
