Why do some Architects do this? it totally blows me away every time i place an advert for my shop on our server forum boards that some other Architect comes along and undercuts me not by just a few credits but some are still actually charging 3 CPU for 13 BER harvesters i just dont understand why they bother, for the quality of resouces i use to make these i may as well become a miner than sell resouces,i can sell the resouces alone for more than 3CPU...

Ive been selling 13s at 250k and ive had a nice steady sale "say5-10 a day"ever since sure i make a tidy profit and probably earn my money at the same rate as all those lowballers but i spend so much less time at my crafting station which to me is the important thing....

so i ask do you like your house that much and are factory runs your idea of fun? i actualy thought a few Architects may take some pride in themselves the way weaponsmiths etc do once they introduced experiment points...

Welcome to the architect profession! Undercutting has become an art form in this profession and has been going on for quite some time. It is a reality that many have adjusted to. Why do they do this? There are a variety of reasons....but in some cases I think the undercutter is just plain clueless. You may wish to use it to your advantage. When I run into a way underpriced structure, I buy it and resell it at a tidy profit and conserve my own resources. Selling resources is not a bad alternative either. You may also consider making arch subsomponents as well. I recall a player posting the he/she was thinking of doing this (turbines, etc), and had an amazing amount of interest and support from the architects on this board.

Do not let this bother you. As long as you are doing a steady business, enjoy the game. Good Luck!

We put up with your over-cutters, with a lot less whining than you do.

The term undercutter cracks me up, it is like driving syndrome, anyone that drives faster than I do is a maniac, anyone that drives slower is an idiot.

No, my problem is not with people undercutting i dont understand why people actualy sell for less than the material used sell for as resouces ???

why on earth would anyone spend time, effort and the risk of crit fails when selling the resouces would yeild you more cash?

I would never do that, my materials cost 0.3 to 0.4 a unit, tha tis thier value, I make a large profit on every sale, even counting crit failures, my profits rage from 700% to 1500%.

My character did not get rich selling for below what it cost him to extract the materials.

( and dont try to tell me I can sell bulk ore for 3 cr a unit, I know better than that )

will u silly guys ever get the point? how much u pay for it is not the point.

the point is the average market price of miners, for what they sell pure resources without risks and work.

if u sell lower then u COULD sell the pure resource then u dont make any profit. cause u simply could make more without work. if u cant see the point then u are really really stupid and got no clue about business.

its really not worth to discuss with brainless ppl but its so much annoying me to hear such crap over and over again.

let your little balloon fly in real life dayln, but that u cant compare with a producing business.

/sigh

Following this "model", we should get all of our pets for free from the CHs then, because it costs them nothing. Or prehaps a better example would be that under this model, a capper spineflap should be sold for the same price as a rancor, because the cost is the same. The point is, higher rate harvesters are worth more, because they provide a greater benefit to the customer, regardless of if they take the same amount of resources to make. And yes, if you are selling your items at the same price(or less)that you could sell the resources for, you are working for free. A successful business model isnt always the best business model.

/ * steps over dead horse */

Dalyn has gotten his money by selling more for less. Others will make their money by selling less for more, with less effort. Dalyn most likely gets enjoyment out of his work and does not see the fact that he is working harder as a bad thing. Or maybe he is actually paying others to do the hard work - does anyone really know?UNLESSyou are an Architect who is working in the EXACT same market as Dalyn, and selling the EXACT same products, who cares? It has no impact on you other than setting certain customers expectations at a level where they will not buy from anyone priced higher - this is just a fact we have to all deal with - just like the city and starport hawkers selling things for LESS than their actual cost just so they can continue the grind or produce some emergency cash flow. Now if Dalyn actually has a viable Architect character after all this time (we have to assume he does - who else would spend this many months in a class specific game forum just for giggles?) then his model must work for him, or I else I would give him Kudos for being the most persistant and bored liar I have ever read. Once again who cares? Unless you are a casual gamer in his market - then you either need to change your own profit model and expectations or change your class, or get over it. And Dalyn if I have to read that you have a gabillion zillion trillion dollars one more time, I think you should have to start "/tipdeej 100000 bank"ingme for each mention of your wealth As a casual gamer I could never follow your model as I do not produce enough to afford to be able to sell at your prices - close sometimes, but not usually. In summary regardless of whether he is full of the biggest load of crap ever to grace a forum, OR a business man, we would have to agree he is good at what he does ...

No one should ever use Dayln as an example of what not to do or what to do when it comes to pricing. The only information we have regarding Dayln's supposed architect activities is what he posts here. If you read all of his posts, taking note of specifics, you will come to the same conclusion that I have. No one should ever use Dayln as an example of what not to do or what to do when it comes to pricing.

That being said, I hope he never stops posting. Between the joy of reading his posts and the impact they have on folks who take them at face value, I know that most any time he posts there will be fun to be had. In that same spirit of fun, Dayln, how much for BER10 med mineral harvesters?
