Thread: Week Four List of 5
User Friendly Furniture Placement Tool – The current Furniture Placement Tool is extremely difficult to use and does not give the results desired. Many end up simply using the /commands to get the right look. The use of a slider bar for placement would be a drastic improvement over the current radial menu.
Item Storage Tiers – With all houses currently able to store the same amount of items (250), any player seeking a house for storage purposes would get more bang for their buck by purchasing small houses over mediums or larges. For example, a possible table could be –
Small - 150We would also like to see Storage Space affected through Experimentation. Perhaps a possible increase of 50-100 extra slots from Experimenting.
Medium - 250
Large – 500
Or, implement a warehouse style structure that can hold 500 items. Players would more likely purchase the warehouse for their storage needs, and with a storage of 500, it’s unlikely players will need to own more then 1.
Distinct Corellia Houses – The citizens of Corellia are requesting that their Houses receive a face lift. The difference between a Corellia and Generic Architecture is marginal and not diverse enough to suggest a difference in culture. Generics should look like some sort of Empire Factory Pre-Fabrication, pretty bland and boring. The current Generic houses pretty much fit that description. Corellia houses should reflect Corellian culture.
Business Oriented Structures – Everyone would love to see the addition of Business related structures. The cry for Cantinas is probably the loudest, with Medical buildings in second. Adding 6-8 Business buildings to the Construction skill tree would have the best results, giving the Architects something for an underpowered skill tree.
Sorry the list is late in posting. I was hoping to postpone this until the release of responses for Architects so I didn't re-iterate issues that may already have been answered. Here's the list for now. We have not yet been asked to continue sending these reports in, so this one will be saved until that time. I hope everyone will be happy with the list compiled.
Thanks,
Mitsudo

I am not an architect but I do have a much better solution to the furniture placement issue. Why not use an overhead view much like when placing a harvester or house. the outline of the piece could be rotated in smaller increments and any collisions with walls or other furniture would make the outline red. Once an item was placed it could be raised using a move command and its the Z cordinate. Seems like a much better solution.
That sounds like it would take a lot of work to implement, but I agree that its a good idea, Nerfburger.
Good job on the list Zarcath, perhaps we'll see results a patch or two down the road.
Improved Harvester Controls:
Slider addition/removal for Maintenance, and Power. /depositpower XXX command
Command to empty the hopper: /emptyhopper
Secondly, regarding the critical failure issue:
The reason that crit failures are so hard on architects, it because we have to hand craft final deeds. AS/WS/DE have much lower resource requirements, so it's an option for them to machine the final product. Run 50 items, cost is 2%. For archs, the immense resource requirements for running 50 heavies/mediums/PA's out via factory make it impossible.
The issue isn't as much that the critical failure rate is too high, but that we are unable to use factories in the way they were intended: Mass producing items without risk of critical failure. A request would be for the devs to review our inability to factory final deeds, due to the onerous identical resource requirements, to bring our profession more in line with the others.
Item Storage Tiers Its not right since the lots don't scale correctly, but this went in with the patch on 8/13. The warehouse is a nice suggestion, but in light of the 8/13 changes you should have rewritten the entire line item.
Business Oriented StructuresDid you miss the entire player city Urban Planner announcemnet?
I know others are always crying don't waste our list, but this week I'd have to agree with them.
1. This is not the realm a architech has direct control over.
2. The furniture fetish is getting old.
3. Storage was JUST addressed.
4. Good job.
5. you did read the In dev post? this is in the works for UP.
1 out of 5.
the reason why it was just TAKEN AWAY FROM US is because the devs are having database problems. they are not going to go for this when they just got done telling us they dont want us hoarding items and wreaking havoc on the database.
yea, i gotta say, each week it seems more like you are just coming up with your own ideas here.
2 of the things on your list have already been addressed.
Rov is right about the storage, do yo ureally think they would even consider giving us more when they just took it away from us?
storage space in another building is no different that storage in the houses.
Sorry, but your way off this week. I was hoping for a list i could tell rovani to stuff it on but this one isnt it.
I talked to my other crafter friends and they said that they dont have the issue of the items staying in the tool after a critical failure.
the only people i know that have this are the architechs.
Please re-read the Item Storage sentence, it clearly states why different amounts of storage is needed. A player would get 3x the amount of storage for the same amount of lots if they used small houses instead of large.
Business related structures is something I saw some of you asking for, even after the postabout Urban Planners. However since the people who seemed most vocal about adding this in are now retracting their statements, it will be removed from the list in favor or something else.
Again, Critical Failures have already been addressed in previous reports. Until we recieve the Correspondent Response from the Devs, I would like to avoid re-stating the issue.
Please explain what you mean byresources getting stuck?
