There have recently been two blows to the architect profession.
1: structure decay was removed, thus reducing our ongoing income
2: free veteran reward of a self powered harvester
These both have an impact to our sales. Our sales aren't great to begin with. I understand the benefit to the player base as a whole, but our profession will hurt due to these changes.
What is SOE going to do to help out OUR profession??
We're getting no attention at all. There are issues that have been existing for well over a year and we've had no response on and no activity on.
Fusion experimentation broken for a year.
Ore mining units have not crafted since the beginning of the game.
Some Bestine museum paintings bugged.
When will SOE be addressing our issues??
What will SOE do to improve our failing business?

Not only that, but future vet rewards "Housing Bunkers"
.
Oh well, with the GCW getting jazzed up, it might be time to hang up the crafting apron.

I'll try to remain optimistic here for a brief moment - people will need a place to display their miniatures. This could lead to an increase in sales of some types of furniture: tables, bookcases, etc.
I'm not going to go nuts over people getting one self maintaining harv, but it would be nice if they weren't tradeable so super rich resource dealers wouldn't go out and buy a whole fleet of them off of other players.

It would really depend on the type. Considering it's just the initial reward, I'd say it was a personal harvester or a similiar low BER and low hopper harvester. It doesn't establish a good precedent though.

One thing I'll say about architect, if you stay at it long enough you will develop a loyal customer base because everyone else has nigh quit the profession but a handful of people.
Architect continues to be the stepchild of the crafting professions, and new housing listed as a veteran award really is a knife in the back. Partner this with structures basically not disappearing for 6 months minimum after condemnation and any sensible person looking at the potential game economic benefit has no reason to expect their work to return a regular profit.
Architect is my first choice for a crafting profession, and even when I'm in the middle of the worst FS grinds you can imagine on 7 family characters, Ipurchased another account just so I could continue an architect on Tempest. The concept of creating cities and communities drives my interest and fulfillment I find in SWG. Architect is a very key component to that goal. At least on my server, I notice that all the big-time architects reflect those values, too.
I do not have access to the modelling capabilities and storage of this game. But, houses are no more than containers from what I see and in my opinon every silly loot addon (portable stoves for instance) take up a slot that could be dedicated to new housing alternatives in-game. I wish that point could be driven home to the devs. I don't want all the schematics handed to me -- say make a quest to acquire specific schematics, let building a house on an adventure planet take the complexity of the RIS quest, or something similar. Give us something to achieve as a vital profession in the crafting community of SWG, please.

I don't think the Veteran Rewards will be that much of a problem for us, not as much as the maintenance fix anyway. And I'm staying positive, that hug Dvnce promised us is still coming!
Right?
